They have 11 guys for a 10 team league and the winner from the prior season gets to kick someone out AT the draft Dameshek bought a Cameo from Fred Lynn (Bill's favorite Red Sox player growing up) breaking the news
Nothing can compete with him saying that Memphis residents have the guilt of MLKs murder in their DNA, which is why they get nervous anytime something too good is happening
i'm not a big nfl person so i don't listen to the ringer nfl show i gave the season preview a listen this afternoon and it was horrible. i can't imagine the nba show is anywhere as bad as this. i think there was consensus on perhaps 90% of the teams as to what they'd do this coming year. no one really entertained other scenarios as to who has a chance at a division. and the host clark went on a bunch of weird tangents that didn't involve the other people.
every time i ever tried listening to their NFL show it was just Clark smugly criticizing 90% of the GMs in the league as being stupid and basically all conversations would end in "well the Pats are gonna win the Super Bowl anyways so..." oh and lots of name-dropping by Clark as well. I remember one time he was on with Russillo on the BS pod and after the 3rd or 4th name drop Russillo was like "you talk to a lot of people..." It was an excellent neg.
should be out late tonight or early tomorrow IIRC and yeah Cousin Sal and Against All Odds are on the new pod network him and Dameshek started
guys, you won't believe who Bill thinks will win the AFC East and which team may be overrated in the AFC. Shocking!
ZeroPointZero the guess the lines pod is a must listen for you. i thought the simmons kicked out of the league thing was kind of overdone and the cameo video was overhyped but simmons whines like i've literally never heard him before to sal about the kick. it happens right before the guess the lines segment.
Him acting like he has always hated the kicking-people-out aspect of his league, when him and Sal have laughed about kicking their friends out omnprevious pods for years and years was very enjoyable to listen to.
Not surprised he quit. Only child syndrome. I am going to skip to parent corner. Just dont care enough about the NFL season yet.
"...and I've felt this way for years" when you can go back 9 months and hear him contradict himself is one of my favorite things about his personality "I was going to make my own keeper league anyway and I don't like playing in too many leagues"
That combined with the petty anecdote about him ruining the usual suspects for jack o leads me to believe Bill was probably incredibly insufferable to play pick up with. I need those stories.
Yeah, him ruining Usual Suspects befoe JackO could hear it just because JackO made him mad was sad to hear. One of my best friends is an only child and he acts like that if he doesnt get his way.
Maybe the most embarrassing thing I’ve ever heard. What an entitled twat Hope the Pats go 5-11 and he is moody all season
Warren Sharp is tremendous but I have little desire to hear him talk with Chris Vernon and even less desire to hear him talk to Joe fucking House.
Is Bill actually friends with Dameshek? I remember him kind of being a dick to Sal during the bubble betting preview thing about Sal launching the podcast network with Dameshek
I think the theory on the Simmons subreddit is that the friendship sorta went south when things went bad in the Dameshek marriage
don't remember too much but i think it was just a case where supposedly Dameshek had a messy divorce and Mrs Simmons took the side of the ex-wife, and since the couples couldn't hang out together anymore it was a wrap
I thought Bill was implying he was an alcoholic as a throwaway comment because he was mad about a fantasy league but it was actually way worse
Listened to BIll's pod with Raja Bell taped before game 7. - Raja is really, really good on pods and I'm going to start listening to more of him - That was an all-time cringe worthy performance from Bill, which I give Raja even more credit for dealing with. So much stuff in that pod that just made me wonder if he ever listens to how he sounds when he says that stuff. And it's not just the normal homer stuff, either. It's the "I know for a fact Tatum is more comfortable because there are no camera people under the basket..." type stuff that just makes him sound like such a weirdo.
Now granted I don’t have any kids but I don’t think setting up an account for your 12 year old to gamble is a good idea in any way
Bill asking if there aren’t Vegas odds on nfl coach firings because of the unemployment rate is one of the funnier things he’s said in a while.
Raja is great. The pods with him and Logan are a good listen. However, Logan has a habit of repeating several “catchy” phrases and I find it a little obnoxious.
Listened to several different pods generally praising bills today, albeit with some worthy reservations. The moment the bills get mentioned, Bill just shits on them and says they didn’t look good at all. Mind you, he picked Jets +6.5. He is 100 percent pissed that the majority of analysts, including those at the Ringer, picked Buffalo to win the AFC East
and no gambling issues at all now i only made like 2k on pokerstars one summer, wouldn't have bought much of a car
i didn't think the "biggest pussy in the world" instagram story was a big deal as apparently bill was just saying that to himself and the kid repeated it but, yeah, mark me down as having your child gamble as a pre-teen is a bad idea
