Why is it fucked to ask your employee to provide some documentation about their medical situation or spouse's medical situation, given that you're requesting a change in schedule/working environment/whatever?
Like, you think I'd lie about something like that? If so, why are you still paying me to be an employee here?
ashy - I could be wrong, maybe we shouldn't ask employees for documentation. Anyway disregard, just wanted to strike up some discussion - no offense CaneKnight and sorry to hear about your mother. You're one of the most passionate posters on this site and sometimes the extreme nature in which you post things just makes me want to ask about it rather than just click Like like everyone else.
My mom's had cancer for years. Multiple myloma never goes away you can only do maintenance on it. He's missed numerous work things because of it. This is the first time they've asked him for medical proof.
Like it's bad enough to force a 60-something year old back into an office for no good reason in the first place. He could die too
i haven’t pick up a business textbook since the day i graduated and got the fuck away from those people but i can’t imagine having any other impulse than extending grace
My job of all places is considering moving a portion of the workforce to remote FOREVER. They saw work was still getting done and money was rolling in, so they really don't give a fuck. A year ago that would've been a preposterous suggestion in the eyes of the higher ups. Are you getting your work done? Is it being done a timely manner? If the answer to both of those are yes who gives a fuck where they work from.
A bunch of jobs are doing this. You can remove so much overhead by not having physical offices. And guess, what, people still do their work for the most part because they like keeping their jobs.
I had this conversation with a kid on the first day of school Student: "My mom had Covid" Me: "Oh wow, when did she have it? Is she doing OK?" Student: "I mean, HAS Covid. HAS". Me: "Oh". We really are fucked
Do you know if his company took a PPP loan? They might need it for documentation when they put together the forgiveness packet. The long form asks for a ton of shit that seems unnecessary.
You think they need documented proof of illness of the spouses of employees who are working from home? Pffft.
I hear ya but the loan is administered between the company and the bank. The SBA gets the completed packet from the bank and then decides on forgiveness. I don't think the employer would ever have the opportunity to explain it to the SBA.
I don't know. It just seemed weird that a company who seemingly knew about the situation would all of a sudden need formal documentation. The only thing that I could think of would be a PPP or other regulatory reason.
So data dump in Florida today? Worldometer is listing 378 deaths today which is their most ever by a mile
I don't know. My mom has had to jump through hoops to get everything required by the SBA for forgivenss so that was just the only semi-excusable scenario I could think of when I saw the post. Unless there is an outside need or if they are just indeed assholes, I can't think of a reason they would need something like that. Shitty regardless.
They're forcing their ENTIRE workforce to come back and are only giving exemptions to people who can provide medical documentation. My dad's bosses aren't being a given a choice at all they have to go back no matter what. It's pure insanity.... Should be noted this heel turn came like a few days after the RNC so take from that what you will. I just think the people in charge are insane right wingers.
Honestly my Dad will handle his business, but I feel bad for the rest of his workforce. Like wtf man, this virus isn't gone. This country has gone insane. I really don't want to live here anymore. It's awful.
Yeah, nothing says you're looking for some honest discussion quite like asking someone if they've ever had a job.
I think the general consensus in here was the 2nd wave would start after Labor Day when businesses wanted to get back to normal occupancy at that time
Just curious how does one do that? Offer to buy part of it out? Asking because my business partner and I started discussing that this week for one of our stores.
