gotta wonder if Serena starts feeling the weight of major #24 if this goes 3. She hasn't looked good in these matches in the past.
She's dominated every recent semifinal. The final she hasn't overcome recently but semifinals? She's been downright dominant like in the first set. I think this has more to do with Vika who has looked consistently outstanding this tournament
She definitely needs to speak up. Though I know they're trying to be a little cautious after Zverev got after BG yesterday.
Her pulling that shit right after excessively screaming in the middle of points was not cool at all. Vika didn’t seem to mind though.
Since she had Olympia and came back, her Slam results have been: 2018: French Open 4th round (withdrew, injury), Wimbledon Final, US Open Final. 2019: Australian Open QF (up 5-1 in 3rd set to make SF when she rolled her ankle), French Open 3R, Wimbledon Final, US Open Final. 2020: Australian Open 3rd round, US Open SF. Her level remains remarkably high. It just may not be high enough to get over the hump one more time. But she's far from washed.
I agree with this and I think she will end up getting at least #24. I think it will take someone like Osaka or Andreescu faltering before the semis. Serena still owns 95% of the players on WTA tour.
Threw a little money on PCB as well here. History says Zverev with the pressure on him in a Slam goes poorly.
That was my logic, I was going to go all in last round (I did not) and it started off well but obviously he's playing today. That said, my worry is that it's the pressure of the crowd that gets to him more than the fact that it's a "major".
