Someone doesn’t realize he’s getting clipped on Tuesday. Hopefully it will help with his desire to jump the fence. Jackass neighbors didn’t help the situation and wanted to wait until he was a year, but seeing him run to my neighbors female dog, me yell “No!” and then jump anyway forced my hand. Also getting chipped while he’s under.

Deal. That's not an easy one with her. Doesn't really have that one spot that's a lock to engage the leg kicks but I got it. Will try to record but might need two hands for scratching. Regardless, your vote is much appreciated.

Sully's first trip to the beach. He was a little scared of the waves at first and would only get in the tidal pools, but eventually got used to them and loved playing in them. Vet guessed he was part lab, shepherd, and rotty. Thinks he'll be around 60-70 lbs when he's fully grown.

Wondering what's up with Paisley this weekend. She hasn't eaten a full meal since Thursday morning but is otherwise acting fine. Has eaten treats. But isn't eating her food even after I opened a new bag.

She's never really skipped a meal before though. May have to take her to an emergency vet ... :/

Update: devoured wet food but still isn't touching her other food

Fuck. Paisley has a liver issue according to blood tests. Going to need fluid treatment and possible hospitalization. Signs of UTI but then just outright stopped eating. But she still seems in ok spirits.

Hopefully "just" an infection with can be flushed and medicated out and nothing worse.

So it's been a hell of a week. Paisley has been hospitalized for the last 2 nights BUT responded to antibiotic and fluid treatments. We don't know yet but it's likely she caught a strain of lepto and had a life threatening case of it. Without treAtment it can basically have destroyed her liver. But she is now responding to the treatments which is a great sign it was "just" bacteria and nothing more serious.

She just started eating for the first time in several days so hopefully that means she can come home tomorrow and continue with antibiotics for "weeks".

She could have gotten it just drinking from random puddles on walks. No way to know for sure. But be safe with your pups around water. Paisley was vaccinated for lepto but there are strains of it they can get anyway.

Took Groot down last night and it was the first time I’ve seen a dog do this. He saw a plane in the sky and followed it. I swear it was the best thing I’ve seen in awhile. He was so entranced by the plane. Also I just took him potty not for a walk that’s why he isn’t in his harness. Potty we just run down and he does not pull so don’t jump down my throat about no harness.

Trudy had her first beach experience recently. She had a great time except for discovering the sand spurs. She got into a patch and we had to pick about 30 out of her hair.

What did you ever find out about this? Bonnie gave me a scare randomly one day this spring on a cold rainy day. Vet couldn't find anything wrong with her and said it might have been change in pressure outside messing with her.

Some kind of lower back injury.

We came home from the beach and I took him to the vet. They said his extremities were all fine but he was very guarded when they tried to examine his lower back area. No real diagnosis. Put him on NSAIDS for 5 days and he slowly got back to normal in probably 3-4 days. Probably a 10 day injury.

When he was home he would hide under the sofa all weekend and it worried me. When the nanny came on Monday she said he was out and totally fine, even escaped and roamed the neighbors yard for bit. As soon as I came home he went back under the sofa. He did this every time I came home for a few days that week. We think he was pissed at me for shoving the meds down his throat.

definitely a strange injury but has been totally fine since we got the meds in him.

So after losing our dog six months ago, we are dog owners again. Went from a pit bull to an english cream golden retriever. Very different how people come up to you on the street.

Anyway, the dog was got crate trained when we got her and she was overall good in her crate for the first two weeks. The last few nights she has absolutely hated being there. It went from whining for 5-10 minutes to 2 hours. Last night she chewed through the door and got out. Again, i would have expected a fully grown power chewer of a dog to be able to do it but I was impressed for a six month old dog was able to do so in basically an hour or two of chewing.

We brought this crate (https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/new-age-pet-ecoflex-innplace-crate-2679547) and obviously would not recommend since it lasted 3 weeks.

So any suggestions on crate training anxiety? Our last dog had it and we just not longer kept her in a crate but she was 1.5 and we trusted her more. With a six month old, Im not sure what to do. Either get a crate that is more durable and hopefully we can get through the anxiety or we see how well she does unsupervised in our house.

I'd get a wire crate with a partition so she can grow into it. Not sure about the anxiety other than ignoring them or giving them something that smells like you

Mine are far from the best, but I basically laid next to them until they fell asleep and had a hand touching them. If they started barking, I took my hand out of the crate. I would put it back when they quieted down. It was a rough few nights

Had our dog boarded about a week and a half ago. Noticed a small bug on him, but it was right when he got inside. Didn’t see anything else, but today we saw some black specks in his fur and decided to give him a bath with Dawn. For sure at least one flea came off, and saw a couple other spots but couldn’t confirm.

Anyways, after his bath we brushed him really good and didn’t see anything else. I’m currently washing our bedding, and plan to vacuum all the carpet. I was going to run to the pet store tomorrow and try to get some kind of flea treatment and maybe a spray for the furniture, etc. just because I’d prefer to not have 1-2 fleas turn into a disaster. Never have dealt with this, so not sure how serious a couple fleas can be. We have white bedding and I didn’t notice anything unusual there either. Basically just the 1-2 on our dog.

Anyone have a good product they’d recommend that I can buy without a vet visit or anything?
