Just finished the Boys State doc. Loved it. That was the best doc I've seen since Magnus. There's so much to unpack, and so much amazingness from the Wyatt Schaefer fascist-esque chairman speech, to banning cargo shorts, to the interpretive dance audition for the talent show. Not to mention, there was a ton of depth beneath the surface, and I can't recommend it enough.

Doubt this will be on YouTube for too long, but the full length doc about Liam Gallagher has been posted. I think I've mentioned it itt before. Supersonic was a better doc imo, but being a big fan, this was a good watch.

The Vow on HBO is pretty good so far. 2 Eps in. IDK how many there are going to be. It's about that Sex Cult Allison Mack was in. I thought we had a thread on it but I cant find it

I was so mad that I only only two episodes had come out. I was ready to binge all of it in one or two sessions.

I wanted to scream at Ranieri’s sheep for not even noticing how lousy he is at playing piano despite claiming to be on the same level as a concert pianist.

I’ve been to a seminar like that before. To make a long story, slightly shorter -

I took a gamble to work for a start up company that fell completely flat shortly after I was hired. Scrambled to work for this small advertising firm right after until I could find a better job. It was a small 10 person firm. The owner sent her sales people (3 of us) to these executive seminars. It was annoying because you had to block out an entire to go.

It was just like this shit. Run by husband and wife duo. It was all about personal betterment to become a better sales person. You’d break down to focus groups and they’d ask super personal questions. After the first seminar I was like - this is pretty weird. After the second, i was 100% sure it’s a cult. I continued to go while I looked for other jobs. Watching this doc - they talk about Keith the same way the people in the seminars spoke about the leader. So strange.

Before that, I was always dumbfounded how people could be so blind and willing to fall into a cult. After going, I completely understand how and why, and the type of people that do.

The Vow sheeple are a bunch of dumbasses. Hollywood types. Nippy seemed like the only one with half a brain. Pretty sure 90% of Mark’s “what the bleep do we know” movie has been debunked as well. That being said, I’m loving the shit out of the doc.

Most of us lived it atleast once.

I was there several times between 86-92.

That Alpine Slide was like a slasher flick going up on the ski lift. After awhile on particularly bad days they stopped cleaning up all the emergency medical waste on the hill until after the park closed because all along the route up you could see discarded bloody gauze and bandage wrapping left from a wreck location. I guess (hope) they took care of it after the park closed for the night.

Also, I know they might reference the Kamikazee as one of the tamer rides but that thing was the world's largest fresh water enema. On the flip side it also had the alluring ability to rip off a chick's bikini top if their arms weren't crossed TIGHT over their chest.

    Every. Single. Time.
12-25 yr old titties flying everywhere.

Edit: Posted this last night and then watched the doc. Hot damn if they didn't say almost the exact same things.

I wish that the doc went more in depth of the scheme and not just their conversations. How much money people were paying, how many were involved, etc.

Listening to a podcast right now called "We crashed" about tech startup "We work". It sounds exactly like this. Also, every MLM seems to have cult like structures. Shit's weird.

WeWork is pretty typical of a lot of tech/silicon valley companies. They all have weird corporate speak that's almost a different language, talk about disruption. There are definitely culty aspects of that corporate culture. It's not really the same as this shit though

MIRAGE MEN takes you on a journey through the badlands and backwaters of America. Mark Pilkington and John Lundberg, based on their best-selling book, uncover a 60 year-old story stranger than any conspiracy thriller. For over sixty years, teams within the US Air Force and US intelligence services exploited and manipulated beliefs about UFOs and extraterrestrial visits as part of their counter-intelligence programs. In doing so they spawned a mythology so powerful that it captivated and warped many brilliant minds, including several of their own. Now, for the first time, some of those behind these operations, and their victims, speak out, revealing a true story that is part Manchurian Candidate and part Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

    Guess I'll watch?

I assume NOW is just for stuff the airs on HBO and stuff like Class Action Park is made specifically for and only on MAX?

Just finished The Ripper. Solid documentary. Stayed pretty entertaining the whole way through.

holy fuck what an epic failure by those cops. They could’ve easily caught him way earlier had they listened to every witness instead of forming an idea of what they THOUGHT he was doing and then convincing themselves they were right. Dude was called the fucking ripper at work as a nickname. Was questioned like 7 times. What a total failure.

and then they lucked out and caught him on accident and patted themselves on the back for it.

Strictly follows Jack the Ripper. From the first murder to the last. How they tracked him. Everything. It’s pretty interesting and definitely shows why serial killers were able to get away with shit for a while back then.

Watched the new Britney Spears documentary with my wife. Pacing felt weird. Paparazzi are shit heads but aee caught in the system as well with the amount of money to be made to the fat cats at the top. She definitely seems like she's in a toxic (no pun intended) and abusive conservatorship, but I don't really see the #freebritney social media people as the hero of the story either. The podcast and obsessive stans are just the 2020 version of the paparazzi and seem like they're QAnon-lite, which I wouldn't be surprised if those groups overlapped decently. There didn't feel like there was a ton of information, just a compilation of the news with journalists and participants saying 'yea we don't really know what's going on'

Edit: lol oops missed the 5 page thread right next to this
