Stay at home orders for more than half the states came before April 1st yes. Like 1/3 of states still don't have mask requirements, though, and I can't find when those were issued very quickly. I remember seeing fucksticks around here not wearing masks until like June
There's still people here not wearing them. They are mandated but its honestly optional and few if any businesses enforce it. The biggest issue we have is that a very large portion of our country thinks the virus is no big deal and that starts with their leader.

The mask part is the most infuriating. We're such dumbasses as a nation that Fauci and co. couldn't tell us to wear cloth masks in Feb/March b/c they knew that Americans would buy up all surgical/n95 masks. Many Asian nations that have been hit hard in the past wear masks everywhere, but we couldn't learn from that. So we're still debating mask wearing 8 months later.
I agree with you. I think it is a much tougher call than people who are playing armchair quarterback are making it out to be. Woodward’s interviews went on until recently. Had he released any of the items earlier, the interviews ended and whatever else comes of this never exists. Maybe Woodward felt as helpless as all of us do with regards to sharing that one piece of info back then. Trump likely would have slithered out of it and still said, that the cure can’t be worse than the disease (economy). It’s easier to look back with the slow role of the 200k deaths, but at a couple of thousand I think nothing would have changed. I actually think this info being released now is more impactful. Trump was never going to not pretend it wasn’t lethal. He is doing it right now and we know it is lethal and the info is out. Nothing has changed. The impact on the election is most important unfortunately and even that may be minor at best. Sides and views on facts have been chosen.

No, that is not what I said. I said I don’t think it would have had an impact and that it is a tougher decision than you make it out with history in the rear view mirror. The tapes didn’t just appear in one day. They were recorded over an extended period of time. The context is not nearly the same. He would have played the tape about downplaying, and Trump would have said the cure can’t be worse than the disease, just like he did, and boom no more tapes. The reality is the tapes are out now with more dead every day than were even dead in total when Trump said that and he just held a fucking indoor rally. That is all you need to know.
I’ve said that I am not arguing he should not have released them earlier. All I’ve said is seeing the reaction since they’ve been released leads me to believe no matter when they were released no ones behavior would be different.
