Once again, there will be eight episodes of different lengths (“There’s probably even variation [in episode lengths] this year,” Favreau notes)
Dumb question- Does this mean watching as they are listed on Disney+ or finding a website and watching them in a different order?
Star Wars official website has an order that you should watch it in. Disney + will likely offer it in release order, which is a mangled mess. Things start to straighten out after about three seasons worth. https://www.starwars.com/news/star-wars-the-clone-wars-chronological-episodeorder
I don't know I guess by this standard you can ask why would they ever do anything to improve their product?
It’s not a dumb question because the release order on streaming services is a damn mess. The first three Seasons were in the can prior to a single episode being aired so Cartoon Network went crazy and put it in a completely random order. Made no sense at all.
Finished the thrawn book this morning. It was good. Sets up some interesting stuff. Also was listening to a podcast and they were discussing an interview Daisy Ridley had. Apparently she said during TFA they were still deciding if she was a Kenobi or a nobody, but left it open obviously. During TROS - they told her a bunch of different things. Hadn’t figured it out prior to filming and she wouldn’t know how to act it out scene to scene. Sounds about right.
sequels had zero narrative reason for being just threw the first one to JJ and hoped someone geekier could make something of his TFA “mystery box” later. Complete fucking mess
But it's not the fault of the person who decided to make three films with different filmmakers and different scripts...
not to wade in on this, but Lucas was pretty hands on with the development of the "stories" of the OT movies. He let Kasdan write the screenplays for Empire and Jedi, but Kasdan wrote a screenplay for Lucas' story. Star Wars needs a Feige. It needs a big picture idea person to guide the stories and screenplays.
If the original trilogy came out today and it made Luke and Leia siblings after Luke was crushing on her for the first half of the trilogy, people would lose their minds criticizing them for that lack of a plan. This was different because they knew they were doing 3 movies while Lucas didn't, but we treat old movies very differently from how we treat new ones on stuff like continuity.
That's fair. A lot of the OT's problems continuity-wise stem from there not being a "trilogy" in mind when they were making movie two (Empire). It wasn't until after Empire that Lucas felt burned out and crammed whatever ideas he had for future movies into one. Compromises were made and Lucas was already in the "who gives a fuck, these are just dumb kids movies" mode of viewing the franchise.
Wasn’t Luke originally supposed to find and train his twin (not Leah) and that was Ep 3/6 and then they’de take down Vader/Palp in a future movie?
Originally the Jedi that was returning was Luke’s twin sister who was already a being trained as a Jedi while in hiding. Luke was supposed to go find her and together they were supposed to take down the emperor. Leia was originally the love interest of both Luke and Han as shown with the incest kiss in empire. At the time, that wasn’t her brother, it was between Empire and Jedi that Leia and the sisters characters were merged to avoid introducing new characters
Fuck you. In my timeline Ahsoka trains one of Anakins kids to be a Jedi who then joins with the other kid trained by Kenobi who together take down Vader and Palp. My timeline>>>>>>>>anyone elses.
Also, Kanan was dead. Maybe Ezra’s hanging out in some remote corner of the galaxy at the time but it seems unlikely there was a force ghost Jarrus out there doing work.
