My parents have a house (for future retirement) on the gulf, and my Mom was there last night. They never thought it'd hit P-cola, and never thought it'd be only 6mph away from hitting as a Cat-3.
My mom's place on Fish River near Fairhope. Top of the boat house is almost covered. She's there by herself. The neighbors took their boat and got her last night since their house sits a little higher. Hoping it doesn't get much worse.
posted in the hurricane thread, but Fairhope got waxed. lots several trees and sections of fence. got lucky on the shingles, only lost 3 small spots. crazy damage around town. doesn't sound like power is coming back on tonight.
I didn't take it, Mom did, but it's a house on beach. Close to the church. I'm originally from Pensacola, family, all cousins and extended family from there as well. Mom went to now essentially defunct PHS, and Dad went to Tate. Most cousins who stayed local went to Gulf Breeze or Tate.
Anyone know where to rent/fill a keg anywhere between Pensacola and Gulf Shores?? Where Eagles Dare You're kinda from Pensacola IIRC?
I thought I might be way off on that but I know there's someone who is from there on this board. Now that I look at the old post right above mine tagging you, I see it was Gin Buckets that's from there. Pardon me, WED. Hey Gin Buckets -- Any leads on this? Got some friends getting together down there soon and I'm trying to find a cost effective way to supply everyone with lots of beer.
They're on my list to try tomorrow. When looking at the website earlier (yeah, they've got one), I learned they hold a "worship service" on the beach on Sunday mornings. How about that! Tried all the package stores and a grocery to no avail but I'll keep trying.
Fun fact: I’ve been to the Easter service at Flora Bama. Drinking a bushwhacker on the beach at 10:15 AM on Easter Sunday is my kinda service. Call the Flora Bama package store rather than the bar, btw. Next to the Waffle House. If they don’t know, then I’d give the following places a call: https://www.google.com/maps/place/W...7!3m1!1s0x8890a57ee25a0bcb:0xcedfac1334f69233 https://www.google.com/maps/place/T...7!3m1!1s0x8890a4bd16be44c9:0x8e88a25396cf0fe7
I got you... Richie's in Pensacola is probably the best bet? (which means you'd have to drive back over both bridges if staying on the beach). Another option is the Wal-Mart down the highway past the "This Way to Pensacola Beach" sign. I'm technically from both. Moved from there to South Atlanta when I was in elementary school, however, both of my parents and most of my cousins live/grew up there.
This is now the de facto Pensacola thread, right? https://gardenandgun.com/articles/my-town-bubba-watsons-pensacola-florida/
