I’m kind of leery of non-LEGO brick sets but I’ve seen knock off versions of The Big House that look cheesy as fuck but that Doak looks cool and at that price point, why not?
FWIW we've got just about every Bionicle ever produced, disassembled in huge storage bins in the attic Three boys came of age in my house building Bionicles. Had to have every new set whenever it came out. Then came the "let's build our own giant mutant Bionicles out of the parts we have" phase Can still hum the music from the PS2 video game
They are cool but fuck they are a pain to put together. The pieces are so small and the directions are shitty as hell. Me and my boy did a kinnick one and unlike LEGO that has hundreds of pages these only have like 30 pages where you are putting 70-100 pieces on at once. Dry easy to get off a brick and it throws everything off. If you don’t mind wasting a few days straining your eyes then go for it.
Pretty sure this is my new favorite, took a long ass time, I didn't track it. Needs like 10 pics to do it justice, a lot of moving parts and intricate details. Spoiler
I don’t buy them but living in Orlando and getting to go to the LEGO store every time my nephews visit (or the ones that live here go) is awesome.
Did this around Christmas. A buddy got it for me. He does them all the time. my nephew promptly destroyed it. Took a few hours to complete.
I've never done any of the Technics. Need to look thru some and pick one out to try, they look pretty neat
They are awesome. The Buggati, the Aston Martin, and the Porsche are all great builds. The level of detail is really insane
Got damn that Bugatti My Land Rover showed up last night so my weekend is lined up. LEGO build with an adult beverage(s), Gary Clark Jr. blaring, all while taking place in my outdoor area. :BartScott: My 6 yr old has the QuinJet to keep him busy too so momma will be thrilled.
My brother ordered some army play set bucket for my kids birthday. Turns out it was a bucket full of Chinese knock off legos. Man that thing pissed me off. Instructions were shit. And the damn things would either fall apart or go together super glue tight.
Had this on my wish list for a long ass while now. Been my dream car since I was about 9 and this quarantine got me about to pull the trigger.
Honestly not nearly as long as I thought it would. Its totally hollow inside so unlike the Buggati, you arent building super intricate pieces like engines etc. Buggati was probably a 15 Hour job and destroyer was probably 12ish
I’ve yet to get into anything like the vehicles. I’m trying to save to get the UCS Falcon, but worried it’ll be gone before I can get the money
The engine and suspension alone on the buggati is honestly crazy. It has 16 working pistons and the lego masterbuilders worked with real engineers from Buggati to build it. Probably the most satisfying build I have ever taken on. Totally agree on the Falcon. I have the little one but the big one looks so awesome. I love the architecture sets and I REALLY want Fallingwater but its like 500 bucks. The Mrs would murder me lol
Got through 4 of the 15 bags. This stuff is just amazing. The small details and features are top notch. Spoiler Had to interrupt his nap to start building
Bought the monster burger truck because it looked a fun build, gave up after 2 pages, had trouble understanding the instructions. Meatball took over and finished 2.5 hours later. Said the instructions were rough but was a fun build nonetheless
Meatball fired me as his builder like 2 years ago. In my defense the instructions did not do a good job with the coloring of the various parts
I’ve sounded the alarms that if my family or anyone else is giving me a gift for my birthday next month, I want money for that set. I need to get it before they retire it.
I got it day 1. It took literally all morning and about 150 tries before I was able to sneak the transaction through between crashes and timeouts on the Lego website. It’s still sealed in the box. If I didn’t have a house to remodel, then move, then sell another house during all this shutdown I would have it built by now.
Can i just say that few things make my soul hurt like when I get a new set and open it and it has like 40 bags and they aren't numbered? Dammit Lego!
Ive gone so hard on the lego during quarantine. I built the Lamborghini Sira, the Mustang, the Ducatti, the Porsche 911, the Dodge Charger, the Ferrari F1 car, London Bridge, the White House, James Bond Aston Martin, Yoda, and a ton of small sets. They have taken over a whole room in our house lol
The 1500 piece box at Costco is one of the best deals I’ve ever seen at $40. Occasionally it drops lower, but I’ll grab it a couple times a year and just dump it in our girls big container.
That looks awesome. The Mrs and I were thinking of getting that and building it together because she loves Harry Potter. How is the detail inside the buildings? That and the new Mos Eisley Cantina set both look like they would be really fun builds
For some reason my attempts to link the pics are broken but here is an imgur album of all my latest builds. I hope Lego continues their collabs with supercar manufacturers. I love those technic sets
Damn that's awesome. Completed the castle at the beginning of quarantine, may need to look into this one.
The interiors are great and include a lot of Easter eggs and details. She will love it. Also should get Hogwarts, too, if you don’t already have it!
nice! that looks amazing. We have the great hall portion of hogwarts and it was fun. Might have to cop the rest of the castle and then dig into Diagon
