Going to attempt to fix my dishwasher today. Starting the the inlet valve. Anyone else have the tabs not dissolve but the door clearly opens. My initial thought is a faulty/blocked valve not getting enough water. My fear is the pump.

Any recs on an electric power washer? I have a gas-powered one I use from time to time but it mainly lives at our hunting camp - would like a little electric one for cleaning around the outside of the house without pulling my arm out trying to get our gas one started.

I love my ryobi. Abandoned the old vacuum cleaner standup and is like a small duffle bag. Great for cleaning the deck, walls, taking on roof for gutters etc.

Anyone have theater seating? Trying to figure out what the best options are for my garage theater im going to build

Also any recommendations on a good snow blower? I've always just used shovels here, but new house is going to have a lot bigger driveway and the lake effect snow makes me think its going to be a must to get one

I need some advice regarding WiFi in my house. I have a 50 gb plan with my local internet provider but struggle to get good speeds in some of the rooms in my house. I bought a cheap extender a year or so ago but it hasn’t seemed to help much. I have been trying to read up on mesh systems but I’m not sure if that’s what I need. I have a modem/router combo that was set up by my provider. Anybody got any advice?

    for snow:

You can get pretty fucking expensive when you look. Two recommendations.

1A. Pay someone, it’s not much.

    2. Get a three stage and electric start if you buy one.

Yes. All depends on the solution you choose but this is not a problem with mesh. Just need another AP.

That seems small to make that necessary but could be warranted if you have plaster walls which wifi has difficulty penetrating.

So I could get by with a simple one? I was thinking something like this. I assume I would just run an Ethernet line from my modem/router to that router? Sorry, this stuff is foreign to me.

Yeah something with just a router and one access point should be sufficient for you. I get by with a router and two access points for 2500 square feet.

With routers and WiFi systems, remember, you get what you pay for. If you get a basic one, make sure you don’t have a ton of devices on the network as it will slow down routing the various packets. WiFi Routers as much as we use them and will continue to use them is never something I will skimp on.

I understand others may not see the same need.

Sorry I haven’t looked enough into that specific one to say either way. My point was more a general response to the question of if a “basic” one would work.

For future proofing; I would spend a little more and get a robust system. The router is the central hub which touches every internet packet coming in and out of your home. For me I want a solid router.

In my house I have the cable company router plugged via wire into my router; which everything connects to. Just my two cents. On a purchase like this; I would do my research.

3000 square foot house with a basement id probably have my video game set up on, and my wife home office would be on 2nd floor and I'd want to set up a theater in the detached garage.

What mesh system would people recommend for that setup?

I have had Ubiquiti for 4 or 5 years now, no issues. There are tons of great products out now. Just a matter of how you set everything up and you have to get in the weeds for a bit. It’s worth it though, I haven’t fucked with my WiFi or not had signal anywhere near my property since I put it in.

ksu_funny33 any solution you get in the mesh space is designed to be expandable. Start small, you can always buy another AP where you need one. All it takes is a walk around your house/property to see your signal strength.

We have these unifi ubiquti units at work and I have access to a dozen or so of them that were on jobsites but are just sitting in a box
I tried Googling how to set them up and make m home network into a mesh, and I gave up because it looked way to complicated for me

Willpépé helped me and my Ubiquiti network is working great. One thing I can’t seem to figure out is my iPhone likes to stay connected to one access point. When I’m on the other side of the house the signal is weaker than it would be if it jumped to the closer AP. If anyone could figure that out for me it would be awesome.

oh and my speeds doubled instantly from my antiquated routers and setup.

These are terrible ideas. New house, set the ALPHA tone in the neighborhood by getting out there and doing the snow removal yourself.

But for real, able bodied men in their 30-40's pay for snow removal on a residential (as in, not hundreds of yards long) driveway?
