I just can’t come up with any scenario where the Florida case/positive rate over the last 6-8 weeks would still have 150 death days other than the numbers are being cooked. Our positivity rate is much lower and we have 1/3rd the cases that we had 6-8 weeks ago but deaths are still high. Our case to death ratio has more than doubled despite no hospitals facing overloads and doctors having more working knowledge of the virus. It makes no sense unless the numbers were being cooked.
or deaths lag cases and even though they were keeping people alive longer (due to the knowledge you mentioned) people are still succumbing to the virus
7% of the UW-Madison student body has already tested positive: https://www.nbc15.com/2020/09/16/7-...ody-has-already-tested-positive-for-covid-19/ They have two entire dorm buildings that are now "COVID dorms" with everyone locked in for (at last) two weeks.
IF immunity after infection only lasts 3 months there will be no benefit in this way. I agree that the 60+ crowd should be near the top of the vaccination list. Health care workers should be first imo.
When pperc raised the red flag, I told my wife, friends, and coworkers 18-24 months based on his info. I’m glad I was prepared because I would be dying mentally if not. So thanks.
Also opening nursing homes up for visitation. Seems like a good idea. At least bars are still closed I guess
They should be bludgeoned for that. Still can’t believe those assholes here did that and told their kid it was their right not to wear a mask.
True, but I don't think there's any hard science about that 3-month number, I think that was the CDC just setting a random arbitrary number.
Hence, the IF. The CDC doesn’t put up random or arbitrary guidance...if it’s under their actual control. The 3 months is based on the information known about other coronaviruses. Typically they will hedge their political risk though. In this case the 3 months is probably very conservative and, internally, they think the protection lasts quite a bit longer in most people.
Love getting a phone call from a friend that was at a fantasy football draft with you last Thursday (outdoors, but still) that they got sick over the weekend have Covid. I fucking love that
Sure, as long as we agree the 3 months number isn't based off studies for this virus unless I've completely missed them. The only thing I saw itt was, if I remember correctly, someone in Hong Kong getting infected with a slightly different strain around 3 months but they were basically asymptomatic.
I’m very well aware. I’m just glad that me a couple of other friends insisted it was outside. No one at the draft is showing symptoms and considering it was a week ago crisis seems averted assuming that guy had it then. Not so coincidentally me and those same friends insisting it was outside have our own separate text thread
https://www.greenbaypressgazette.co...es-she-had-covid-19-complications/3484484001/ Heidi Hussli, 47, a Beaver Dam native who lived in Suamico, followed her mother into education, teaching German at Bay Port High School for 16 years. Hussli had studied German at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay and educational leadership at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. "She loved German culture so much," said Amber Viegut, a Bay Port English teacher. "She took dozens of kids, including our principal's son, to Germany," Viegut said. "She made countless trips to Chicago to the Christmas market. She led amazing cultural events at the school, too. My favorite memory is her yearly dress-up for Oktoberfest." Hussli is believed to be the first area schoolteacher with COVID-19 to die since the school year began several weeks ago. A colleague said Hussli was in classes the week of Sept. 8, became ill over the weekend and was unable to return to class. She is survived by a husband and son. Her mother passed away in late August.
Look at this fucking graph 9/17: 2034 postive, 17.8% 21.7% (443) of new positives are age 10-19. 28.2% (574) are 20-29. [Only 2.4% (48) are under 10]. 47.6% (969) are 30+. New record for this shit state And of course this is no where near the actual number of infected people in WI. The high percentage rate of positives tied into the age of the infected historically points to the positive tested individuals being symptomatic meaning many non-symptomatic individuals are out there.
But wait there's more! LA CROSSE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – La Crosse County surpasses two thousand COVID-19 cases with 122 new positive cases Wednesday, which is up from 112 on Tuesday. According to the Coulee Collaborative, last week had a seven-day rolling average of 100 cases per day. In the past seven days, nearly 50 percent of all tests came back positive with a majority of those cases in the 20 to 29 age group. The increase in cases was expected with higher education students returning to campus.
Ran in the park today in Denver. Thousand plus people in the bark. 40 people waiting to play pick up basketball. not great
Update on the clinical trial (Moderna) Last week I got my booster shot (30 days after the initial injection) and it knocked me on my ass. About 12 hours after injection I had severe chills, body aches, headache, and a temp of 101.4. The injection site was pretty red and swollen as well. I felt like shit for probably 36 hours. This was the complete opposite of my initial injection where I didn’t skip a beat. Work made me get tested for covid and they were kind of upset about me being in a clinical trial. With that being said, it seems my body did have an immune response which is kind of what we’re looking for. The clinical trial place said this reaction has been pretty common for people after they get the booster shot. People aren’t going to be very excited about a vaccine if those are the symptoms they’ve got to deal with. (Still a hell of a lot better than getting covid IMO)
This but for every sitting GOP lawmaker. I mean, we have to get to the bottom of what they knew and when, somehow. And, as any of them would happily tell you, torture is effective.
that’s going to be incredibly problematic as far as selling a vaccine as something without side effects to the general public.
Ignoring how grotesque this is, Kushner's advice is going to cost him re-election... and lol at "free market" dopes
Yeah, the research doctor told me that people were having more of a reaction after the second shot, which I did not. Sounds like some of us may have an idea if we got a placebo or not.
Why would your job be upset you were in a trial? That’s bullshit. sounds like you made a robust immune response. But this is why I think the Pfizer vaccine will be better. Lower dose and fewer side effects.
