Best I've read in a while https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/29394527/the-hero-goodall-park-true-crime-drama-50-years-making
Thanks for posting... hadn't seen that. What a wild/sad story. While their lives may have been worse in the short term, I genuinely think their lives would have been better in the long term if the brothers had just been honest from the start. Carrying that guilt literally ruined the rest of their lives.
Is Texas Monthly still doing longform? They were incredible for a while but I haven't seen much from them lately
their innocent man two part series is one of the best things i have ever read. i think i will reread this afternoon
I remember a while back that they were going a different direction but I think they still do an occasional long form piece here and there.
also i don’t think it’s texas monthly but the angels and demons series about the guy who’s entire family was killed on the way to disney world is also amazing writing
Not TM, but the Texas Tribune stepped up with this one: https://www.texastribune.org/2020/07/02/texas-border-wall-private/
*They are legit crazy people *They 100% adopted a special needs baby from China , because of what they thought the "optics" of it would do for their YouTube fame *I have a weird feeling that the wife is getting the brunt of the criticism here, but the husband is equally terrible if not more. SMH @ him still doing some car detail show on YouTube *The story of the entire family sitting in a car crying because the chance the wife had cancer (when she didn't)was incredible *I bet they have to sell their house soon. They were definitely living above their means for show and now that the wife's YouTube income is at zero, they have to be in a bad spot. She will definitely give it a go again at some point, but she won't be able to get that back
I agree with all of that but I also had a lot of sympathy for what they went through even if it was their own fault. Raising 4 kids with 1 of them being severely autistic is brutal for anyone to take on and I can't even imagine the constant stress that puts on them and their marriage. I think they did the right thing by giving him up and it sounds like they found a much better family for him in the end.

Interesting read on new theory for the famous Black Dahlia murder.... https://delacortereview.org/2020/09...os-angeles-coldest-cold-case/?utm_source=digg
New Yorker consistently publishes some of the best stories out there. I love that magazine. I really like Vanity Fair too.
I think an even more interesting read would be on just how this dude accumulated so much money...it obviously goes beyond some random acts of insurance fraud. It also humored me how conveniently he had "95%" of his net worth tied up in a deal when he got arrested. He's got money sitting somewhere when he gets out.
