The announcer made a point about Adams versatility because he wasn’t part of the back 3. Had he ever played as one of the CBs in a back 3?
not with leipzig, i never watched him in his mls days, so i can’t speak to that the people calling him a cb because of last week is weird to me
interested to see how the cm situation shakes out when laimer returns hopefully tyler doesn’t get shunted out wide
mentioned this is in the bundesliga thread as well, but he also played a subtle role for leipzig’s opening goal imo
Ngl I’m really surprised at how much the Juve fan base seems to love the shit out of McKennie this fast, but happy to see.
McKinnie was moved to the right side after a midfielder sub was brought in Pirlo must be in love with him
Worried he would sit when it was first announced but started and played the full 90. Nothing spectacular but was solid and better rating than Rabiot. Encouraging. As mentioned, Bonucci scored a rebound off his shot and he also forced another save
In Pirlo’s thesis to receive his coaching license in Italy he talked about the need for versatility and playing guys based on function and role rather than position- especially in the midfield. Also- “You must always have the ball. When you lose it, you must immediately get it back.” Juve- front office: “Hey there’s this 22 year old midfielder playing in the Bundesliga that played like 8 different positions for Schalke last season alone.” Not surprised he’d love him when you read that. He’s basically the prototype midfielder he was looking for for his system.
Idk if it was on here or I saw it on Twitter, but getting McKennie was his 1st priority after getting the job.
Tidy up that one touch in the final third and whew boy. Great debut. Kind of funny that you can tell when he picks up his head on receipt his first thought is “where’s Cristiano and how quickly can I get him the ball”.
So with all this talent breaking through big sides and leagues across the world what are the chances we are still starting mostly MLS garbage like Zardes with our idiot coach?
No, let the man flex in Europe for a few more years. If he isn’t at a huge club in 2026 let him come home then
I’d prefer to make the switch sooner than later and not let the most promising generation of youth languish under a glorified gym teacher for an entire cycle
meh, their development is all driven at the club level, seeing triple g a few times a year won't ruin that none of them will ever be healthy at the same time anyway so it doesn't matter
The Red Bull pressing style isn't that easily learned with how few practices NT's have even during normal times. Better hope to have multiple players at clubs with a very high pressing style if Marsch becomes manager.
despite Bayern being loaded, if Kimmich is playing in the midfield there's a real chance for regular first team minutes at RB.
i read through some of the comments and i didn't see a single person mention gooch. maybe i'm way off there.
I think Gooch may be better than some of the other options pitched, but because he’s been around for a while and in the same spot without ever being called up in a long time, there’s never really any noise about him.
Turner has been elite since getting full time run the back half of last year. He would of been GotY but only played 20 matches. He’s only had about 2 seasons worth of matches with the first team so he needs to show it some more. He’s trolling with Steffen, I’m sure it’s a Doyle-like “if you can’t start for your club team you can’t start for the national team”. Steffen is still the 1. It sucks Melia and Frei are just that odd age they were behind Howard (but both were in better form than him or Guzan in 18 and we would of qualified with either in goal) but now there is a good crop a decade younger to run with instead. Like everyone else I don’t watch the Belgium league so who knows about Horvath. If the World Cup was tomorrow I’m starting Steffen and Melia is on the bench and I’m saving a sub to bring him in for PKs because he’s the best in the world at stopping them (like not even joking). Probably Guzan as the 3rd just for some national team experience but Turner and Frei are better keepers than him.
Listen, I knew what I was getting into when I tagged Dirt, had to get to him before he started a Marvel movie
