It’s almost like you missed the camera shot of Silva and Chilwell sitting in the stands. We’ll see how much help they provide when available. Kepa and Jorginho can get lost though.
I like Chilwell but saying a 36 year old Thiago Silva is the silver bullet to fix Chelsea’s defense seems questionable. Not saying he can’t be (he was really good in the UCL final) but I don’t think he’s gonna hold up all season.
Chelsea’s non-Kepa defense was actually pretty good today (and the problem pieces have been dealt with In the window). 1.6 xG with about half of that from Kepa’s stupidity. Silva will probably get used selectively depending on the matchup.
The Christensen foul is a red. Does he commit that aggressively to the challenge if he had any faith in his keeper? I wouldn’t rule it out. I can’t remember a top 6 side ever fielding a keeper for any period of time who instilled as little confidence as kepa. He shouldn’t even be the backup. Caballero is much better.
Lampard having developed a complex with Liverpool is fun. If only Klopp leaned into that stuff like Mou.
Some stats on Chelsea’s keepers, nothing earth shattering but he’s suggesting statistically all keepers have declined under Frank https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...-play-doesnt-help-him-frank-lampard-liverpool
