Not sure if this is a sign I just don’t give a shit about video games anymore. But I don’t remember a time where I was left out of ordering a new game system. missed out on the PS5 and XBSX
Also, I signed up for email notifications from like Best Buy, Amazon, and Gamestop about pre ordering info months ago. Not that it would have made any difference but realized I never got any notifications from any of them
Xbox announced the times that were consistent across all retailers last week, though. The only thing I haven’t seen go live yet is the All-Access page for Best Buy.
Missed out, tried over and over, still couldn't get through. I just don't understand how a presale for something literally not even manufactured yet, is this hard to get.
I'm sure they will continue to release pre-orders...this was probably just the first wave of "we are sure we have X many"
Yep, been saying that since the PS5 pre-ordering fiasco. Last generation was the first generation where I had disposable income to try and buy multiple consoles for resale so I pre-ordered 2-3 of each when they went up, they sold out, then at launch there were more than plenty so I just returned or canceled all my extra orders. I will admit these pre-orders were a little harder to come by and there are multiple reasons for why that could be. Could be COVID actually hurting manufacturing. Could be COVID quarantine pushing more people to gaming. But I suspect there will be plenty to go around at launch which is why even when I didn't get a pre-order for the Series X right away I wasn't that worried. With the way the PS5 pre-orders went, I definitely felt like Microsoft might hold some expected supply back to create a similar sense of urgency. A smoother experience may have been able to be sold as MS being more competent with their pre-order announcement but they almost certainly benefit more from creating the same kind of hype and demand that the PS5 pre-orders saw.
Didn’t get either this or the ps5 I know I’ll eventually pick them up. I don’t think I’ve ever bought at launch but i still get disappointed when I don’t.
I want one when it drops but still have absolutely zero idea what I’d play on it besides fifa with Popovio
Same, I have a xbox one x and use it basically as home entertainment and play fifa. Every now and then I'll play a different sports game.
$220 for the expandable storage https://www.bestbuy.com/site/seagat...vme-solid-state-drive/6425015.p?skuId=6425015 For anyone shocked by that price, don't be. A comparable drive (Seagate FireCuda 520) that isn't customized for the Xbox is $250. We're treading into somewhat confusing waters for more casual console gamers but that custom drive for the Xbox Series S/X is going to work just as well with the console as the internal drive and it's the only way to expand your storage for playable games. You can get another external HDD (or SSD) and store games on there but you can't play games off of anything but the internal drive or this custom "Game Drive."
With the way prices drop on the short term for technology, you’d think the drive cost could be half as much by this time next year. Unless the price is held up artificially.
A terabyte is plenty for me right now on my one x. I keep 10-12 games on my hard drive and cycle out the ones I’m not playing tbh. I say this pending what file sizes will look like on new consoles.
I don't pay as close attention to PC hardware prices as I used to when I would constantly be upgrading but I feel like SSD prices are fairly stable. At least, they don't drop as fast as most tech prices tend to. Could be totally wrong but it seems every time I do go to get a new SSD they're still pretty pricey compared to the way prices of other tech has dropped as you mentioned.
The new Doom game was one of those random "meh might as well download and play it" games when it came to gamepass. The sequel got great reviews so now I am pumped
Thats what I did with the first. I went out and bought the sequel because I was bored. Its much harder but very fun.
Excited for more of these reviews over the coming weeks. Its super impressive on paper but I want to see how it actually performs in real time.
