With all due respect, who cares? No one is expecting college aged kids to unilaterally follow covid related best practices and we already know that they don’t.
Who cares? I would assume people in communities where spread is ticking up would care that citizens, on average, start taking things more seriously. Not all of us live in countries where the death rate is 1/10 per capita the past few weeks as what we are facing here.
Pretty sure that dude lives in Oregon where there’s like 250 new cases a day across the state. Maybe not the thing to get outraged about, but you do you.
I feel like I have the start of a cold coming on. Scratchy throat, a very small amount of congestion, a little chest tightness. No fever, I can still smell/taste, no chills/body aches. Do I need to go get a rona test?
The preachers and God are gonna make it go away very soon!!! It's irrelevant that they've been claiming this since March, now is the time it'll happen!!!
you should care that anyone is being irresponsible but I would argue that the college administrators who brought college kids back to school and expected them to behave appropriately are the ones more at fault. Anyone that expected anything differently from what we’ve seen from college students since campuses across the country reopened is dumb, naive, irresponsible or some combination of the 3. We had a decent buy in despite the presidents wishy washy statements during the first “kind of lockdown” period. You were never going to get young people to buy in on a second lockdown. Especially not because Some of their dumbass parents are the ones protesting mask regulations.
Id do it. But i mean are you going into an office etc. if you generally stay to yourself and mask up, you could stay home a few days and see where it goes. But again id get one personally.
like Champ said, why not get one? also as we’ve learned from this thread, make sure you upsell those symptoms some.
wife came back negative which really surprised me. She has an unidentified viral illness (not covid, flu, mono)
I remember whenever our kids would bring some random cold home from school, if my wife caught it she would often not be able to taste things. I've never had that happen with any cold and I assumed it was her taste being muted by congestion. Idk my point but I thought about it randomly with covid causing people to lose taste/smell
It’s a bit of a tricky situation right now and I’m concerned about exposure to shit while getting tested. The last places I’ve been inside was 9/13 and that was my normal grocery run. I can’t imagine where/how I would have picked anything up given how serious we take it all. Masks, hand sanitizer, pretty hardcore isolation, etc. I think I’m gonna see what happens the next 24-48 hours.
Umm I care a lot and so do the hundred or so business owners in this college town I live in. Everyone here is suffering financially right now because of this kind of shit. That runs a distant second to the fact that they are spreading this virus around my town like wild fire.
That's the thing though, they brought them back knowing they wouldn't follow any rules. They did it all for monetary reasons even though they knew they'd be exposing the kids to a potentially deadly virus.
Weekly % positive was 4.2% last week. Thats the lowest its been the entire pandemic. Hospitalizations about to dip to the lowest level since it bottomed out in the middle of June.
To be clear, I'm not "outraged" by one random anecdote where young people are being... young people. Hell, for all I know they both got tested previously and communicated that to each other. Maybe? I'm just venting a bit/sharing an example of how easy it is for us to fuck this up (notice I said "us", because they don't make their decisions in a vacuum and we all play our part)
You're not wrong, but I think "monetary reasons" is a bit unhelpful here. The reality is that the very existence of these institutions is threatened and they aren't receiving any help in figuring out how to navigate these waters (just like the rest of us in our own lives). It's just one more facet to the failure of leadership in the country.
Fauci had faith in a republican led federal government, state governments, and the average American. What an idiot.
One college seems to have proven what a comprehensive, nationwide testing plan would have done. We could be doing millions of tests a day and basically be back to normal. Our president decided to go with a radiologist and Fox News hosts saying it was a hoax instead. “slow the testing down, please.”
All of ours has been contact less since about then. We've had some knock but they knock to let us know it's there and then leave it on the porch. We have had a couple pizza deliveries stand there and wait on the door to open and I had to yell with the door closed to leave it.
I feel fine this morning. That was the first time since this all started that I thought “oh shit...something isn’t right”.
My assistant has been out since Friday and she thought she had Covid. She lost smell/taste and got tested yesterday and it came back negative. I think people could be milking it (at least in my case), or they just don't realize you lose some smell/taste when you're congested.
Both could be true. Milking it could also be faking it to get out of work. Or the nightmare scenario that tests could have false negatives.
She has a couple young kids that are in daycare. I'm sure it's just a bug from that....at least I hope.
Florida still has very low case numbers relative to the height but still having days with major death numbers being announced even as we move farther and farther away from the peak Of cases per day which was over 2 months ago now.
https://fox11online.com/news/corona...-average-cases-percent-positive-below-average Wisconsin breaks record for coronavirus hospitalizations 2-4 weeks and we'll have our record death count that will be beaten again a few weeks from then Evers extended the mandatory mask mandate this week, it wasn't being enforced regardless, and now Wisconsin Republicans respond with: Speaker Vos calls mask mandate 'illegal' (same dipshit that wore a hazmat suit to vote in Spring), other GOP leaders call new mask order ‘mind-boggling’ and ‘illegal’ https://www.nbc15.com/2020/09/22/go...-order-ineffective-mind-boggling-and-illegal/ Meanwhile,
Saw Wisconsin's positivity % as a state was 17% and it blew my mind. What the fuck are you guys doing up there
Florida, South Carolina, and Georgia have slowly been climbing the death/1M charts. They're going to pass Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Maryland soon.
I could be way off on this but I’m pretty sure HIPAA does not apply to non healthcare facilities unless they are consulting with a healthcare facility and have access to patient information.
Yup, HIPAA prescribes rules as to how health care providers, insurers and business associates must protect the privacy of health information about patients. HIPAA prevents them from disclosing information in most circumstances. It doesn't apply to mask wearing. More in depth explanation Spoiler
sisters fiancé tested positive. that will fortunately cancel the planned bridal shower and bachelor party they were going to have next weekend that both me and my wife each declined our respective invites to
I’m shocked to hear that someone who was planning to go ahead with a wedding during a global pandemic was careless enough to contract the very disease prior to gathering a large group. Shocked, I tell you.
