It's standard setting. It's the same reason I wear one when I'm standing outside my kids' school to pick them up even though it's probably not doing much. You're setting an example at a place that requires masks.
Trump wearing a mask would not have measurably changed the risk of COVID spread. But it would have been perhaps the most powerful step we could have taken.
but the nfl doesn’t require masks is my point. You have 55 players standing next to the coach without one. If everyone on the sideline had masks on you’d have a point.
its entirely within the NFL's interest, with tens of millions of eyes watching, to project smart public health policy/behavior. Effectuating reductions in covid spread via influencing the public's behavior to act more socially responsible --> increases the chances of them getting fans in the stands sooner and reduces the health risks to their players living within those communities. If they can help influence people to wear masks, by having their most visible faces (Head coaches), then that plays a small part - at very little cost - to getting American society back to normal.
Then don't allow coaches on the sidelines. Social distancing is much more effective than masking. Spread the players out, make them stand on spots, put the coaches in the booths. Most fans are looking at a sideline with 1 person wearing a mask and 50 aren't. You think they are noticing the 1 guy in the mask and not how out of place 1 person looks with a mask?
Or just dont play the games at all but this is why they teach evaluating opportunity costs in business school
We are talking about covid and the best you can do is repeat worthless trash talk? Look in the mirror and repeat that point.
If you removed your head from your ass you would have seen the sarcasm dripping from that post you quoted
seriously though, have we had a better 24 hour period in recent memory for team covid? ND/Wake postponement, USF postpones their game because ND very likely infected their team by playing contagious players, outbreak in russian hockey, houston cancels yet ANOTHER game, tulsa arkansas state gets canceled/postponed. thank god we all hate sports, otherwise this would really fucking suck
It’s the clusterfuck that was expected. I’m wondering if Houston gets in a game by the time Big Ten play starts. At some point those players will start to get frustrated and slip.
You must not have watched any games ~50% of the people on the field are wearing masks. If not more than that.
Jon, If you can't make your point coherently within the confines of Twitter's character limitation, make a cont'd tweet. Hth.
I think he may be onto something that they don't consider sports at all when trying to weather a global pandemic
Also likely bullshit like blaming Schlissel for the Big Ten. My sources are telling me that there are four Pac 12 schools in California and two in LA county. I mean, just like ten posts up was Boulder saying no for two more weeks.
