and the entire systemic argument is that the system and the war on drugs disproportionately target minorities, so the details of this case itself are irrelevant when all the mechanisms that led to the situation you intend to focus on were built on a racially biased structure from the start this isn't that hard, if you didn't have....emotional reasons for trying to lawyer your way a solid defense, the silence on my repeated question is pretty LOUD AND FLASHING though
Any time you want to post actual facts instead of things you saw on twitter 5 months ago that has been proven incorrect thats fine.
I will definitely concede that regarding the war on drugs. The war on drugs being biased against minorities doesn't mean officers should have been charged with murder here. You didn't answer my question, if the police bust into someones house and that homeowner opens fire on them, do you think the police response in that moment depends on the shooters race?
Sometimes? https://www.cbsnews.com/news/what-decades-of-traffic-stop-data-reveals-about-police-bias/ also: https://www.washingtonpost.com/grap...cism-police-evidence-criminal-justice-system/
the point is the reasoning for the surveillance on or investigation of those folks, flimsy evidence or outright falsified evidence to get a warrant, and likelihood of kicking that door down depends on the people in that houses race
should add that this is a rhetorical tic that right wingers love to use in cases like this, so if your goal isn't that, you should probably audit the reflex
This study concluded that police officers are 2.8 times more likely to use lethal force against black people than their white counterparts, despite black victims being more likely to be unarmed than white folks. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6080222/
A really solid rundown clearing up several misconceptions, highlighting all the screw-ups top to bottom in this whole cluster fuck. Correcting the misinformation about Breonna Taylor https://www.washingtonpost.com/opin...ormation-about-breonna-taylor/?outputType=amp
I keep seeing the dispute of her being in bed vs standing in the hall and I’m really not fucking sure why that matters at all?
I was confused by all that too? Some creepy fuckers violently knock on my door unannounced you think I’ll be in bed having sweet dreams ? This actually probably shows how fucking terrified they were a home invasion was about to go down and it was time to mount up and protect your home and life
I'm not sure were we are posting all the protest videos - but this was in Hollywood tonight. This is one of at least three instances of people driving through the crowd tonight and it's only 11pm - so this could be a rough night in the city.
These people are scared/mad they're in the middle of the protest and something might happen to them or their car. So they plow through and hit and run over protesters. No one was going to do shit to them, but now it's fucking on. These people that continue to do this are going to start getting stopped, snatched out of their car and fucked up. Exactly what they were originally scared of, but they brought it on themselves.
The driver, in the instance above, was going slowly until his car started getting hit by several people.
The truck who was deliberately driving through a mass protest and was looking for a problem deserves whatever comes. Someone trying to make a right turn from Sunset onto Vine (especially considering we get horrendous news updates in LA so no-one knows where the protests are) that moves slowly through the crowd until their car starts being attacked is dramatically different, imo. That could have easily been one of my servers - many of which have to make that same exact turn to get home.
If you see a protest just go the fuck around. Driving through them is you trying to start shit. You wouldn't fucking drive through a god damn parade..... If you hit a protestor and end up getting beat to death that's on you and the world is better off without your ass.
The second car didn't hit a protestor - that was the entire discussion point. Everyone thinks the first (truck) driver should get fucked.
At least he's fucking consistent. Its like he found a butwhatabout magic eight ball. He's a fucking dunce
Is that official? Or is that what you think you see in the vid? Because it sure looked to me like they might have run over someone
It's 2 blocks from my LA apt and directly in front of two complexes where a lot of the hospitality industry people live (many of which were at the protest) - haven't seen anyone posting about someone being hit by the prius and also haven't seen any news outlets report it either. To me - it just looked like people that tried to block the car got mildly bumped out the way - but I'm sure there will be more detail tomorrow.
That was in the complaint for the lawsuit the city paid $12mm to settle, not statements of a plaintiffs attorney to the media. I would imagine there was additional supporting evidence because municipalities tend to not just write $12mm checks.
This isn’t something that should be viewed as okay. Using your car to physically move a pedestrian is extraordinarily dangerous to the pedestrian. Don’t normalize it. It’s wrong.
Yeah, it's wild that we have people suggesting it's reasonable to run over people just because you want to get home.
I'm curious how many times anyone has argued that the boyfriend thought the house was being robbed and as a legal gun owner, stood his ground against plain-dressed cops that didn't announce themselves(per the 11 witnesses that have said so, versus the 1 you choose to believe). Now I'm curious how many people would have argued the exact thing if Breonna and her boyfriend had been white, and the cops had been black.
Correct. You don't get to run over people on foot with your motor vehicle. It is ridiculous that this is even a question.
