I do hope we finish this way. That said when looking at Chris Wood's stats compared to Milik a case can be made for that, and I think I would be satisfied.

Same. You don't give up on a talent like that after one season, especially at his age. The club being a shit show in his initial campaign probably didn't help with his ability to adjust quickly either.

I know a lot of people are excited about the possibility of Skriniar, and I won't lie and say I don't want to give him a go, but after watching supposed highlights of how he plays I am a bit concerned he could be a liability. He is a big lunger and reminds me a bit of David Luiz, at least what I have seen from clips. There is just an awkwardness to his movements. Granted, Luiz at his best was a very good player, so I am a bit torn.

Decisive, aggressive, superb positioning and standing tackling. Pair it with raw strength and speed from Sanchez and we have our first choice cb pairing set for the next 6 years.

Jose has seriously impressed me with his man management. We are starting to see the method behind his early madness. The evolution of his relationship with Tanguy has been great to see. Hugo has been immeasurably better since his arrival as well. Players want to play for him, our first true window with him in charge is showing that. His agent connections are pretty fuckin handy as well.

I hated Jose as an opposing fan. I am not big on arrogance. That said, there is an introspection about him that I really appreciate and the fact that he is not afraid to make difficult decisions. Poch was too vested in this team and his transfer picks. He lost the ability to judge the team because he was so attached to them. I also love the fact that players want to come to Tottenham because of him. We were starting to see that with Poch, but not even close to this level, because he has the trophies to back it up.

Not sure saying they are behind is the right thing. It’s not that long since his last trophy. There are many ways to win and the en vogue system always changes and usually comes full circle. Yes, there are much more pleasing systems that win like Liverpool and Man City. I think the issue is that when it doesn’t work it is so frustrating and when it does it can be really boring. It’s hard to watch your team not feel like they control the game due to lack of possession. Not for me at all, but if we get a trophy I will love with it and be happy.

one of the things I was thinking about earlier today that frustrates the shit out of me is how rarely our midfielders connect with our forwards to score goals. Lately it has only been the interplay of our forwards or break aways in the counter,.

I'm willing to give him enough time to tailor the squad to his system and for the squad to fully learn it before writing his tactics off as complete shit. There were definitely some ugly ugly matches last year. Hopeful it was just growing pains.

He still recorded the 4th most points after his appointment, coming in at a time where our league form was the worst I'd ever witnessed in my time as a fan.

Other then Europa I really don't give a shit about the trophies we can win. Champions league trophy I'd care about but we're not in it. The league title would obviously be the best but that isn't happening. The League Cup and FA Cup though? Don't care. Finishing top 4/qualifying for champions league should always be top priority. Arsenal can keep wining the meaningless FA cup while they don't sniff the top 4.

Our midfield was so so bad last season. Winks is useless. Especially when paired with Sissoko. One won't play the ball forward and the other just is physically incapable of controlling the ball with his feet. Not great.

I’m on the fence, the memes won’t stop just because we win one lesser trophy. But I still think it would be something and instill the right mentality to win the bigger ones. I think the players would appreciate any trophy and confirm their intent to stay and contend.

When he was 20/21 he showed a lot of potential. He hasn't developed at all in the last couple of years, and probably has gotten worse. Him and Dier have had similar career paths sadly of peaking at a young age. At least Dier has a chance to still be a solid CB. Winks doesn't have another position he can switch to.

the matches against that Bulgarian club and whatever Balkan team we played yesterday were ugly. How much of that is Winks, Davies, Dele, etc. and how much of it is Jose, I'm not smart enough to figure out.

Yesterday was just about final third play. We dominated the game like we should but even when they scored it never felt like we didn't control the game and would score.

OK? What about the Lokomotiv Bulgarians? Spurs were losing that match until the choo-choo trains handballed them a goal and tried to dig up the turf on the spot.

When it comes to those matches I just need a win and no major injuries and I'm happy. With the current match load they can't afford to press and expend as much energy without being dead at the weekend.

And I don't know for a fact but I'm pretty sure attractive football is banned in Bulgaria.

we were awful in that game and I was scared shit. That said, it was a penalty in the first half that wasn't called, and chalking it up to a handballing us the game is not exactly fair. The hand ball literally prevented a goal that would have been scored, so if anything, scoring the goal was made harder by the penalty. It was a Suarez level hand ball.

So turning this around into a positive, we are showing improvement (not world beaters)... we just won 3 games on the road, which was next to impossible last year under any circumstance, and last year we would have lost to a side like Colchester. We have also only lost 1 game in our last 10 in all competitions. It didn't look pretty in some cases, but that is a step forward.

Anyway, I'm not trying to be an obnoxious pessimist and clutter up this thread with whining.

We have a bunch of new talent coming in (and one prodigal son returning), and there's going to be some fierce competition for minutes at virtually every spot on the pitch and that's going to help a lot, I think.

I'm excited to see what this team looks like in a month or 2. If the team can stay healthy (everyone knock on wood, even if you aren't superstitious), if guys like Ndombele and GLC can improve, if Bale can recover some of that magic, if Reguilon and Doherty can give us some attacking options from the FB that we haven't had in 3 seasons, look out. Lots of ifs, but plenty of reasons for optimism.

I loved Poch's style and philosophy. But it ran players into the ground at the end of the day. Our squad was just never deep enough to maintain that style without eventually running out of gas.

That was somewhat on Levy as well, going over a year with no new additions is crazy. At the moment we are seeing he will back a manger with a clear vision of what he requires in the market though.

:meh: No one outside of England cares about it. We're trying to become a top global club, making champions league runs is much more important for that then winning the domestic cup.

That game was infuriating. I thought Brighton was cheated so many times. That referee did anything and everything to allow MU a chance to win. There was no reason to reverse that penalty, IMO, and he was only calling fouls one way and the last goal was well after time should have expired.
