Yeah a lot of things had to go wrong on that goal, all of which were individually avoidable. I feel much better about allowing it in the 5th minute than in the 70th but I have a sinking feeling about this somehow ending as an embarrassing draw.
Kante and kovacic NEVER play the long ball. Werner wouldn’t be making the runs if frank was coaching the team not to make those passes. They just won’t make them.
Havertz is better on defense than I was expecting having not watched many of his full games. Obviously highlights and even film breakdowns don’t usually capture that.
Frank needs to sub someone in NOW. Don’t wait until halftime. Alonso has been awful. Bring azpi on. Sends a message to the team
Really feel like going down 3-0 on 2 mistakes and 1 class set piece was bad, but the way we’ve played since has been even more embarrassing. I’m gonna give it 5 minutes in the second half and if we don’t look like a different team, I’d rather watch Pitt - Louisville.
Frank pussied our and didn’t sub off Alonso at 30 minutes. That was needed. He didn’t yell at the players or encourage them. Just sat on the bench and sulked. Disappointed that he just gave up. You can’t push Alonso that far forward without keeping kante and kova back. Individual mistakes created the goals but our tactical setup was awful and he did nothing to improve it. Probably the most disappointed I’ve been in frank since he got the job.
I knew there’d be problems gelling and getting the best XI out but this is clearly attitude and hustle. Not good.
Feel like it was so easy mid-week we just expected West Brom to roll over. Look like a team that has barely practiced together, no chemistry, no energy, etc. Better see a different team in the 2nd half
