See? There's nothing to worry about! :::Clicks tweet and reads thread::: Oh, well that's not good either...
I believe that a filibuster free democrat majority can pass laws in ways that strip the Supreme Court the power to do anything about it. They can slowly chip away at the supreme courts power. If you add DC and PR, it makes a Democrat majority stronger and allows moderates in tough to win states to even refrain from certain votes and still accomplish this.
I’ve always wondered why this angle hasn’t been played at all. This is mass persecution of Catholics at the border It’s always pissed me off
They’re brown so they don’t care. As Jesus always said, "love thy neighbor, as long as they are white."
The ironic thing about fiscal conservatives backing Trump is that trump and McConnell have radicalized Democrats in a way that I’ve never seen before. If they come to power, the chances of progressive policies increase in a way I haven’t seen in my lifetime. Joe May be down the middle but senate filibusters always limited what Obama could do. Without a filibuster, some truly interesting legislation could occur. Tax increases that target the rich without including the middle class. Closing of loopholes that only wealthy people can use. the filibuster And the conservatives willingness to do anything to get one they want have been the biggest reasons that conservatives have been able to shape everything in the last 25 years. It’s why Obama’s presidency delivered so little of what it could have. That can all change because of the erosion of our institutions that mcconnell and trump have done.
It’s amazing how quickly conservatives hopped on the “Yeah regardless who wins this is going to the Supreme Court” thought process. That’s so bat shit insane and these mental midgets somehow think it’s ok.
The one thing the dems seem to be doing right it making the Supreme Court nominee about the affordable care act and preexisting conditions. If that’s the debate, the dems win on this issue hands down. Seems like based on last night that there is coordination on that which is good.
It’s why the election has to be a landslide. It’s also why a victory in Florida stacked on getting over 270 without it really helps to solidify the win. If he can’t win a state where his ally is governor and republicans usually win, it further solidifies his loss. Florida, unlike some of the rust belt swing states, counts votes beforehand so there will also be a result on election night. The earlier he loses, the harder it is for him to sow doubt.
you’d never think these were this lopsided based on media coverage. They cover like these are 50/50 issues which they might have been 30+ years ago. That narrative has never gone away.
they internalize and largely accept the trumpian herrenvolk framing, which admittedly has been around in america forever with fly over state and southern whites are the only true americans it bad
Waiting for Joe to respond, "I will be STRONGLY demanding Donald Trump release his tax returns prior to, or after the Debate on Tuesday night. Naturally, I will agree to do so also. His Financial performances have been record setting UNEVEN, to put it mildly. Only Russian financial support could have caused this discrepancy????"
It’s been a clear cut better and cheaper plan since 2015. Those details have always been there. It sounds like you’re just a hater.
He’s going to make Trumpcare and it’s going to be for people who aren’t poor. Or non-whites. Probably no females either.
you just make sure he’s a yes vote for DC and PR statehood and a special election to get their senators and reps into office. Let them be the deciding votes on that. As long as he does that, he can play the moderate and it won’t matter.
Can’t discuss a timeframe until you get control. My guess? Has to be ready to go because you have the potential to lose control of the House in 2 years
Right that’s why I’m asking, assuming we start in January, when are DC and PR states with congressional voting representation in the senate and house?
If Biden wins that likely means Dems won the senate too. If it’s possible to steal the election to keep control of judges and the White House then you’re fucking crazy if you think the GOP won’t do that. Far more likely there’s an agreement for Trump to step down and be pardoned by pence then for ideologues on the count to do the right thing.
