Mine came in yesterday. It’ll easily take place as my go to casual piece. My other gshock will be used for playing in rain puddles and building sandcastles
Yema is killing it right now. $750 with their new "in house" GMT caliber. on Kickstarter next month. 39 and 41mm https://kickstarter.yema.com/products/yema-superman-gmt-bronze-blue-ysupzgmt39-g
Really like the GA2100-1A1, wish I'd picked up one for my brother for a Christmas gift. What's the best site that doesn't rhyme with shmodinky to get on a waitlist?
they had a whole bunch of the 1A1's at my local Macys today. If you want to ask your grandma to use her macys card, its eligible for another 25% off. they only list the red one on their website: https://www.macys.com/shop/product/...sin-strap-45.4mm?ID=10203937&CategoryID=57386
I was going to wait a month or two before following up on this, but after two weeks I feel ready to make a pronouncement that the Speedy Pro is pretty damn perfect. For a 42mm watch (48mm height) it wears well and not as big as I had feared, even after trying it on. I was also worried it would be heavier, being a wider bracelet and heavier clasp. Both fears were unfounded. I was also worried about the thickness claims and having issue catching on cuffs. This hasn’t been a problem at all. In fact, I try to leave it sticking out to admire it, but it keeps sliding under the cuff. It wears great. It’s also looks great on the bracelet, leather strap, Nato - take your pick. Thing is a chameleon that can wear with any outfit. The only issues I have are small ones: 1. The bracelet sizing leaves me in-between being too loose and too tight. An adjustable clasp would be great and I might look into buying one. 2. Winding it isn’t the easiest, but it’s not difficult. I’ll live. Overall, it’s a 9.5/10 and would buy again. Very pleased.
Another great microbrand with a terrible name and logo ala Christopher Ward, but at least Formex has improved their logo and text on the dial. All kinds of dial and bezel combos available. COSC SW300 42mm, 47 lug to lug, 11.4 thick 300m WR $1,800 https://usd.formexwatch.com/products/reef-automatic-chronometer-cosc-300m?variant=32670875877454
Farer released a new line of pilot’s watches today. I’m a fanboy (who needs to buy something from them) and really like these, especially for under $1K:
New Zelos release if anyone is interested. Handwound ETA 6498 elabore w/ small seconds 42mm diameter, 48.5mm lug to lug, 10.5mm thick Full titanium case Different dials including meteorite (can this stop being a fucking thing?), full lume, colors/textures $900-$1000 depending on the dial. Skeleton dial for $1500. I would love a handwind but this isn't it for me. Still a pretty good value though. https://zeloswatches.com/collections/skyraider
Baltic is releasing 3 Aquascaphe GMT watches on 11/27: https://baltic-watches.com/en/collections/gmt Photos at the link
Fudd Redford can you re-post your YM? What is the diameter, would you change anything about the purchase, and is it platinum?
No I cannot even tell you how happy I am with it. Such wearable dimensions especially the lug to lug and I think 11.5 thickness. More bang for your buck than a Sub for sure. The bezel is pure platinum and the indices and hands are as well (I think) but rest of case is stainless steel. My only critique is between the bezel and the dial it can feel a little monochromatic, but it’s extremely versatile and shines like a motherfucker.
Yes. But the lugs slope down, so it curves and contours to the wrist better than most modern Rolii (which are more flat and slab-like).
It’s really growing on me... idk, it’s either going to be that or the Oyster Perpetual 39 with the white face.
Just suggestion from an OP owner: Consider an Explorer I as well as the OP. Similar case, but the Mercedes hands and 3/6/9 add more interest to the dial. You’ll have to go black dial, but when originally purchasing mine the black was more versatile.
Curve ball... AD just texted me offering the blue with blue soft-touch band. Idk... I really like the 58 and know I could at least get my money back in a year or so when I find an OP39 or YM. https://www.tudorwatch.com/en/watches/black-bay-fifty-eight/m79030b-0002
It's Hodinkee X John Mayer Jk its actually that super cliche story about the grandfather who bought it for $.22 cents back in WWII.
My wife has her father's old stainless datejust and wants to change out the band to wear it as her daily. Any recommendations on where I could get a navy crocodile band?
