Perry RUINS everyone he plays with, it's special. Getzlaf deserved better from me (well, maybe, idk) but couldn't outrun the secondhand stink of Perry.
did getzlaf do better without perry this season? Just curious, I don’t know but for some players having a guy on their trio always willing to get in front of the net is huge.
Oh I didn't mean their actual play at all, I just meant how they're seen upon. Getzlaf is at the end anyway. Don't gotta sell me on the benefits of a guy getting in front of the net. I'm a Sharks fan who watched Pavelski for like 25 years (yes I know you meant this differently)
Montreal would be a great spot for him, also kinda surprised Buffalo wouldn’t be in the mix with all their cap space. Dahlin is likely going to be great, but he’s still not there yet. They badly need a top level PP QB and another good 2/3D.
Detroit would be the obvious choice, if we weren’t trash. If he was willing to take less to play for childhood team (and Juniors coach), there is an obvious fit. We are too far away to overpay him though.
Yeah, I don’t really get Vegas or Colorado either. They don’t need the things he brings to the table, and Detroit I would have thought would be committed to the tank for another year or two. Wouldn’t really get the point of adding a guy like that to maybe go from a top 4 pick in the draft to top 6.
The issue with Detroit is you really don’t want to continue to be historically bad. You could turn into Buffalo or Edmonton super quick. Plus, Detroit has literally dropped in every lottery its been in, proving you can’t bank on being truly awful to make it all work out for you. I still think you want to be bad to limit how low you can pick, but Larkin and Mantha are entering their primes. You need to give them light at the end of the tunnel.
The other thing about Krug is that he’s literally the perfect partner for Seider. Not saying you make that your reason for getting him, but that is your #1 pairing for as long as Krug is on the team (assuming Seider pans out)
This is actually a good point I didn’t consider. Makes sense when I remember reading about how just defeated, mentally, ROR was on those Buffalo teams.
Dont think Krug really fits wha the avs need but its a good sign that Sakic will be aggressive this off season.
Based on what? He’s still heavily sheltered on Buffalo’s team in his matchups and they don’t improve offensively or defensively when he’s on the ice. Ristolainen is one of the worst top pairing DMen in the league and he still hasn’t been able to supplant him.
Could happen but have to imagine they will just try to outright sign hall or pietrangelo before giving up assets in a trade for a move.
Stamkos already out for the remaining 2 games what a pussy he doesnt deserve to have his name etched in the Cup this time around
Between cap friendly and a few podcasts, it appears the consensus is a Detroit still has 33 mil in cap space. That is predicated on Detroit spending to the cap to utilize Zetterberg’s 6 mil on LTIR. Plus, we have to actually be allowed to spend the cap by ownership, but it seems like that’s the plan. Mantha and Bertuzzi need new deals, and there are several other RFA to possibly bring back, but those deals will be like a mil each. So if we spend to the cap, Detroit probably has 15 mil to spend. That could be in FA, on bad deals or for hockey trades.
Detroit has the capability to spend to the cap by bringing in 1 and 2 year contracts in trades while acquiring prospects or picks. They aren't competing within that 2 year period but combined with current young players and #4 this year they should be able to turn the corner pretty quickly. Question is how much appetite does ownership have to spend the money?
I think so. Illitch apparently might have turned a profit on the Tigers this season because their payroll was so low, and the big tickets they have all were prorated. Plus, Little Caesars is killing it with so many people ordering carry out these days.
got me some DP to drown my tears in tonight we are just too banged up and not deep enough to compete with the Lightning They are the better team and deserves to win it
is it reverse jinx attempts if its the truth the only reason we are here tonight is because of two 36 year old vets I just hope the Lightning dont do anything for Yzerman and lets him rot in hockey hell known as “Hockeytown”
