Us loves Jan. update: I didn’t pass out but I did run relatively fast and feel marginally better. Maybe one day we’ll have things go our way.
I’m not even that mad really. We just played really well in three straight games for what seems like the first time in years. Should have 3 straight wins. Seems like things under Jose are all going in the right direction. Only thing I’m really worried about is Son’s hamstring.
I hope he is good but our attacking depth on the wings is pretty strong. Son, Bergwijn, Lamela, Bale, Lucas, Dele can play out there, Clarke. If any position is able to take an injury hit, it’s there. Still, please don’t be hurt too badly, Sonny.
My understanding of that report was that arms above the shoulder would still be strictly enforced. Dier’s forearm was above shoulder level (completely because he was pushed from behind and that’s how the human body naturally reacts to regain balance). So I don’t think he would be off the hook if the same scenario happened next weekend (assuming that the foul push from behind isn’t called again).
Have we heard any more news or a timeline for Son's injury? This peacock thing might actually be good for me. I haven't been able to/haven't had to watch our first two league games.
I can't even figure out our shape. Is Reguilon really being used as a winger? Jose really can give two shits about this game obviously, but having Lloris in goal for this is definitely odd. Is this full on parking the bus?
3-4-2-1 would be my guess. Aurier and Sergio as wing backs Lloris Aurier - Tanganga - Alderweireld - Dier- Sergio Gedson - Sissoko Tanguy- Stevie Llama
Makes sense, but we are clearly parking the bus and have zero offensive threat or even ability to counter.
3-4-1-2 would be my guess with Coco and Stevie up top and Tanguy behind. Reguilon and Serge as attacking wingbacks with Sissoko and Gedson covering.
Honestly I wish he would just have played Cirkin and White as well. I would be angrier if Tanguy/Bergwjin/Dier/Toby/Sergio got hurt than if they lose 7-0
At least we won’t have to deal with Kante or Havertz until perhaps later in the match. Is this Mendy’s debut in goal I believe? I have no idea what to predict for this but I’ll be ignoring my work duties to watch.
Yes, he just arrived. Also, I think Jose is being passive aggressive with management and saying get me a fucking striker or this is the team I trot out in situations like these.
Definitely looks like the strategy is take no chances. We have given the ball up a few times where our players could potentially try to get it back and they just let it go and assumed a defensive stance.
This is what always scares me when Lamela starts, especially when we are not on the front foot. These chippy fouls add up or take place in dangerous territories. He is also painfully slow.
Reggie wanted to make a strong first impression and his speed and work rate has looked good, but that slide was dumb.
this team without both Son and Lo Celso out there is pretty poor. I haven't been paying attention, is there any word on how long Son will be out / how bad it is?
Jose said a while at the end of the Newcastle game, but he might have been frustrated. He did get a scan but haven't seen any reports. Hope he's back after the Int'l break.
The one by Gedson, and then another in a Chelsea leadup to an attack. All of this right in front of his face.
Lamela makes a great play (that if anything went wrong would have been a huge foul) and then selfishly does not release the ball. Typical Lamela.
Lamela stealing from Kovacic, and then showing that same energy to steal the ball from Sissoko, very nice.
