3 straight weeks of Bill and Sal being unable to grasp the Bills being 3-0 and good can’t wait until they beat the Pats
Sal calling out Bill's obvious cheating during guess the lines was funny We all knew he has been doing it for 10 years but he's getting lazy
haven't listened to the pod yet but going by the subreddit it looks like he actually would've been better off talking to JackO about the debate than ruining whatever was left of his basketball "credibility"
He got like 3 of the first 4 lines exactly correct and Sal was like "come on, there's no way you get that exactly" Especially since it was some weird Titans -1.5 line
the best was that one time Bill either got a line exact or close to exact even though he didn't know the game was in England
I expected him to pick the Heat. Figured he’d bring up LeBron’s struggles w/ the zone during 2011. Never in a million years did I expect him to trash LeBron’s performance in 2017 and 2018 (34/12/10 and 34/8.5/10) and say that no one thought the KD Warriors were a guaranteed title team. The transition to full-on Skip is finally complete.
i haven't listen to him much over the last couple of months, clicked it on today to get ready for tonight clicked it off when he's just writing insane narratives like this its wild
When you’re playing with legends like Rodney Hood and Jeff Green, there’s no excuse to not beat the greatest team ever assembled.
It was worth struggling through to get to the MLB segment, because he excitedly brought it up again to CC, and Sabathia just poo-poo’ed all over him. It’s a shame they didn’t switch up Jackie Mac and Russillo, because he would have pushed back hard against Bill. I get why they did it how they did—he wanted Jackie to talk about Doc and the Celtics, and having Russillo do a midnight pod is a much easier ask given the personal situations and time zones involved—it’s just too bad Jackie isn’t comfortable enough in the situation yet to realize when Bill’s going off the rails and call him out on it.
Bill continues his run of being absolutely unhinged guesting on Russillo’s pod, just a delightful listen. “You want KCP shooting 3’s if you’re Miami” uhh the guy shooting near 40% this year?
just posted the same in the nba thread its truly incredible "olynyk guarding lebron surprisingly well!"
So from what I’ve gathered online, Stugotz is a giant bit? And him being awful is supposed to be enjoyable?
Bill acting like he has no control over his son's hilariously stupid antics will never not be funny him giving his kid a $300 bankroll to bet games at 12 years old is one of the most insane things I've ever heard
I’ve enjoyed a lot of Russillo’s guests. I don’t listen to all of them but usually 1-2 times a month I like his guests.
Was a bad take then and a worse take now. Incredible how much his hate for the franchise + LeBron blinded him. Not to mention, he had them as the title favorites the last Russillo pod before sports stopped. And then picks against them in 3/4 rounds of the playoffs? So funny.
I’m sure it was just a coincidence that the only game he forgot to pick doesn’t have a line. He’s not even trying to hide it anymore.
To be fair, he misses a lot by 3+ points, followed by “thats a ridiculous line, that’s way too high” because he knows better than Vegas.
listened to part of the russillo pod, him saying jordan refused to let lebron be in the last dance was news i think, but him trying to call Bill basically a hot take artist while he tries to stay in more of an analyst lane was interesting. after bill has seemingly gone off the rails over the last 3 months it's hard to argue the point too much even.
Haven’t listened to the last few pods but just wanna say I could use a good “Haralabos destroys Bill’s soul” interview.
believe it or not, Russilo has been the voice of reason during Bill’s meltdown over the Lakers run through the playoffs
jared Dudley is fantastic, and at some point Bill got in his feelings about the lakers and Rusillo jokingly asked “yeah Jared how do you feel about Tatum?” And I gotta admit I laughed hard
Ryen and Bill are REALLY mad that the media chooses to shockingly focus on a feel good title run by a historic franchise instead of writing articles about how stupid they are and how it was all dumb luck
Bill trying to make Dragic a big deal to Dudley and him just dismissing the Heat as not having enough was great.
Dudley’s really really good. Could be a fast riser in broadcasting but sounds like he wants to coach or make a run at being a GM.
The Bill/Russillo pod with Jared Dudley was fantastic. Dudley will have networks bidding on him the second he retires. I’m not a big fan of Shaq with Kenny and Barkley. It’d never happen, but I think he’d be amazing on that set in Shaq’s place.
I'm not as in on Dudley as apparently everyone else is after that pod and other stuff. He says he wants to be a GM or coach, but it seems like he's been angling to for a broadcasting job whenever he retires for the last decade, and I'm going to assume that's the direction he goes unless he plans to put in years behind the scenes to make the GM thing happen.
Dudley was coming in HOT in that pod, he was hyped. Good pod though, felt like 20% Dudley trying to mythologize himself into the next James Jones though.
That's what I meant about not being in on Dudley. Dude took a lot of credit for a title he had nothing to do with on the court. I'm sure he was a nice sounding board as a vet, but some of that stuff was kind of crazy. And while I'm not "you can't talk shit if you're not a great player guy" because then I could never talk shit about anyone on here, but it's just weird when you hear someone like him talk shit about a Harden or even Kanter like he does in that pod. It's why all the media people love him, which is why it's always felt like he's been angling for a media gig the last few years. And he was talking so fast for most of that pod it was making me nervous listening to it.
He's not at The Ringer anymore, but JJ's pods have been great and he's really churning them out since he left. I enjoyed pod today with Coach K, which is one of those things I could never have imagined myself thinking 15 years ago. Hearing JJ talk about his time at Duke, how he dealt with the hate and how he looks back on that era is always really interesting to me.
the entire second half of the pod is them whining that the media won't trash Jeanie/Rob. Apparently Rob gets 0 credit for an Anthony Davis trade that resulted in a title but we should jerk off to Ainge NOT trading for Kawhi or AD? You can say "Well that was inevitable, AD forced his way there" but weren't Paul George and Kawhi trades looking "inevitable" too after they said they wanted out of IND/SA? You still have to get it done. It was "LOL the Lakers won't get free agents anymore now that Dr Buss is gone" for years after they missed on Aldridge/Dwight/Melo etc, but the moment they sign the biggest FA in basketball it's "Oh well that doesn't count, he picked that himself, they had nothing to do with that"? LeBron ain't coming if it's Jim Buss as the decision maker instead of Jeanie. He was cackling after Kawhi signed with the Clippers about how Kawhi sabotaged the Lakers into missing on all the good free agents and how their title hopes were done, yet they still signed players that resulted in a title and Rob gets 0 credit for that? Pelinka has accomplished just as much as Ainge in a fraction of the time with a chance to better him next season
