Eastern coral snake consuming a scarlet kingsnake, which mimics the highly venomous coral snake. Wild stuff. Found via Reddit.
Looked at the still before reading the text and was very very confused. Saw yellow on black stripes turn into yellow on red.
Didn’t get a picture but saw a beautiful black racer on the cart path playing golf today. Scared the crap out of me as I didn’t see it then looked down and it wasn’t to far from my leg.
Before I read the caption and realized it was two snakes, here was my internal dialogue: "Red touches yellow, kill a fellow. Red touches black, venom.......wait, the colors fucking change at the bottom? What the fuck, 2020?!!!!!!!!!"
I have no idea, I was going to imgur to upload something and noticed that trending on the first page. It's adorable whatever it is.
Had a wonderful fall weekend. Had a fire and roasted marshmallows Friday night. Sunny Saturday with football hijinks. Sunday drive and exploring. Stopped by a dam to throw the fishing pole and saw a couple of these guys hunting for the crawfish I also saw hiding in the rocks.
Has a little bit of a corn snake-y look/pattern, but this is a juvenile eastern rat snake (or central depending on location).
If someone doesn’t know snakes and they see one near water it’s a cottonmouth; if it’s on land it’s a copperhead.
Was working on hunting land last weekend and this thread eased my mind. Had to walk about two miles after getting my ATV stuck and saw a black snake take off beside me. Was not in water, black in color. Did not worry because of Owsley being on here identifying poisonous snakes. Thought about trying to find it and get a pic for a few minutes and decided that I would leave it alone. I assume it was a rat snake, a king snake, or a black racer. I have no real idea, but this thread had me feeling much less nervous than I usually would.
Since this is kinda the reptile thread. Not sure how an early 20s guy has the money to spend millions on crocodiles but it's his passion and is allin.
fffuuuccckkkk, this is why I try and always wear snake boots at deer camp. I had to enlarge pic to see those two fuckers also, Mother Of 3 Says Her Apartment's Infested With Snakes By Jason Hall October 23, 2020 FOX13 Memphis she's spotted six snakes over a span of two and a half days, which included one found in her bathtub. “Me getting in the tub with a snake, I got in the tub and stepped on the snake and fell out of the tub. That was the final straw,” Acron told FOX13. Acron shared a video of the snake still crawling around her bathtub with FOX13, which shows it slithering under the shower curtain. The Rocky Creek Apartments resident said she injured her ankle when the snake sighting caused her to fall out of the tub. Acron told FOX13 she's requested for the apartment complex to move her and her three kids to a hotel or different unit until the snake infestation is handled. “We are not okay with staying here and it seems the apartments are giving us the runaround. No one wants to answer questions” Acron said. Acron shared several other videos and photos of the snakes with FOX13, nothing that she found one in her bathroom by the toilet, which she said bit her son. She said she found another snake near the laundry room and one in the kitchen, which was shown on video slithering inside a pizza box the family used to trap it. FOX13 said it reached out to Rocky Creek apartments several times before finally being told the regional manager received its messages but was out of the office all day doing property inspections. The apartment complex's parent company, Makowsky Ringel Greenberg, LLC, also responded to inquiries late Thursday night: "We have learned that there is a three bedroom apartment which will become vacant next week, on October 28th, and we will be happy to allow Ms. Macron to transfer to that apartment if she desires. We will discuss that with her tomorrow and will offer her a concession. That said, it is important to note that Ms. Macron is not the leaseholder of record on her current apartment, as two other people are the legal leaseholders in the apartment." A local exterminator identified the snakes as rat snakes, which are not venomous and likely followed rats inside for food, FOX13 reports. Acron said apartment maintenance had previously tried to fix the problem by sealing holes near the Air Conditioning and water heater and discovered rat droppings. Acron added that she looked over her lease and saw no mention of snakes. A local attorney told FOX13 the Mississippi Landlord/Tenant act does not mention anything about snakes, but added that the act is written in a way that is highly favorable to the landlord over the tenant.
Didn’t get a picture but had a cool experience. Was almost back home from my run and noticed the pool builders across the street pushing a big snake across the street. Thought it was a cottonmouth at first glance but as I got closer it was just a water snake. Worker said they were just trying to get it out of the street. I got my recycling box and shovel. Slide the 3-4 ft snake in the box and carried him down to the lake to set him on his way. Was glad to see the builders didn’t kill him right away and I was able to help. Really wish I would have grabbed my phone to get a pic but it was getting dark and didn’t want a gator sneaking up on me while at the edge of the water.
