Oh wow they have a deal where you can get the new Chromecast and six months of Netflix for $89.99, works for current Netflix subscribers as well. Standard plan only. That’s kind of a no brainer deal, six months of the standard plan is $77.94.
Pixel 5 purchased. Loved the Pixel 3 XL...Not so much for my pixel 4 XL. New Chromecast looks great. Been using Nvidia Shield with Android TV for about 2 years and have been very happy with it. Likely get the new Chromecast for the bedroom. That remote is too small though. My wife wanted to kill me every time we lost the Nvidia one. Thankful they released a newer bigger one this year.
Is that going to be the price going forward without the Netflix part? I have no need for Netflix. edit: looks like it'll be $50
Yes to Peacock - they were throwing out free months for android users at launch. Yes to HBO Max as well - I have it installed on all my Android TVs.
What is it about the 4 that you didn't like? I'm asking because I told myself I wasn't going to buy the five because I am a phone whore and I don't need it but I'm kinda wanting it... I've had every pixel and nexus because I have no self control.
Missed the finger print reader. 4XL is a weird size and it never felt comfortable. It has always had weird os issues. Constantly have to reset the phone. Had 2 Nexus' and every Pixel. Pixel 3 XL has been my favorite. I almost kept it over the 4 XL but thought I'd eventually start to like the 4XL. I just get the new one every year and sell the old one back to google.
I really missed having the fingerprint sensor in the 4, so I've very tempted to guy the 5 and just use 4 as a utility device at work. But I'm not sold yet.
The 4a is a beast of a phone at a lower price point too. I was planning on jumping on a 5 but my P2XL didn't make it long enough. No ragets
Playing with new Chromecast/Google TV right now. Remote is cool. Setup has been a pain in the ass and taking forever. Its had a couple of bugs not being able to connect to the internet or my phone.
I've about got everything all set up and it says my wifi connection is great and working fine on every other device but just kind of lagging on the new chromecast. I think its probably just new device issues that will get fixed in next update
Update: It's running a lot better, tried it on a 2.4gz and a 5ghz network and was having some buffering issues with youtube tv. Switched it to my mesh network and its doing better. I think this will be pretty sweet after a couple of updates.
Can’t wait to get mine. Don’t know why Google Store order says it won’t be delivered until middle of the month if it’s already on sale in stores.
Google updated its chart for 5g support on at least the P5, but possibly the P4A (5g). At launch the chart had some inconsistencies and did not show TMO/Sprint as mmWave capable (you know, the highest marketed feature of this year's pixel). I'm in now, just need to decide if I want to wait 6-7 weeks to order at the BF price, presumed to be $100 or so lower. T-Mobile (and by proxy, Sprint) now listed to support mmWave, officially as "coming soon". I have Tmo mmWave in my metro, so I was waiting on that before making a decision on the p5. https://support.google.com/pixelphone/answer/10082009?hl=en

Got my Spigen case in mail for my Pixel 5. Amazing how much smaller it is than my 2XL while having the same screen size.
Each Pixel finds some reason for me to buy it. I paddleboard a lot and currently use a clip on pelican case so my 4xl doesn't get wet but that ip68 rating has got me thinking it could just be in my pocket
Pixel 4a just came in. Will replace my galaxy s9 that I've had for almost 3 years. After trade-in, 4a should only cost me about $230.
AFAIK, there is no improvement re water resistance there from the 4>5. Since the P2, all mainline (non-A) Pixels have had IP6X rating, the first digit referring to water resistance
Randomly looked at BB, it is in stock and available for pickup today at my store, even comes -$4 for "in-store pickup incentive" which is nice, but I'm not going after the Netflix bundle version.
Made the switch to youtube music. The eq settings are all greyed out... Anyone have a non-root EQ app they like?
Well my Chromecast ordered from the Google Store day it was announced finally shipped and it will be missing the delivery date given to me when I ordered by three days
The blue I think? I can’t remember. I saw a blue one in a store litchis weekend. No excuse for Google to take this long to ship it when ordered direct from them the day it was announced.
made an impulse buy yesterday from Amazon, the P4 XL (white, 64gb) for $550. For the life of me, I can't decide which is a better phone right now, this or the P5 at $700. I have 30 days or whatever the return policy to decide. Hopefully in less than 30 days, the BF prices will have leaked for the P5. If it come down $100 or more, then that might push be towards it, instead of the lowest ever price on that P4 XL.
Always found Google has inventory issues with any colored version at release. Happened to me with google home mini's.
Do you use someone other than verizon? I don't know why the VZW phones have a waitlist, but the unlocked phones work on their network and ship at the end of the month.
Yeah I'm on Google fi and wife on att. No idea what the situation is with the network antenna stuff anymore
