Just pulled the trigger on the Bike+ with delivery Nov 2nd. Ordered two pairs of shoes. Any advice right off the bat?
Take it easy getting started. Dont try to ride 5 days a week. Its like running, too much too soon can cause injuries. Bike shorts will help out, especially getting started and on longer rides, but it'll still hurt. Have fun.
What kind of shape are you in? Do you have any experience riding indoors or out? Start slow, stretching and cool down and rides are important. Down load the app to get the most of your membership check out the other type of classes. Check out as many instructors as you can so you can see who you vibe with. Try and do a live class for your first class.
Bike will be for my wife and I. We are in good shape, run alot, and used to go to the gym pre-covid. Cancelled the gym for now and needed something besides our tread in the dead of winter. We both have done spin classes in the gym but it was nothing serious. No outdoor riding experience at all. Thanks for the tips, cant wait to try this thing out.
you sound like me when I first bought it. So I’d take a couple beginners classes just to get an understanding of how the bike works. Then start messing with different types of classes (hiit tabata and climb) will be your tougher ones. Tabata imo will be the hardest (maybe besides the bike bootcamp). The app has strength ,yoga, stretching and meditation classes. Don’t waste your money on bike shorts.
Congrats! Here’s some shit that I use on a regular basis that is nice to have: Gym towels - If you’re like most you’ll be pouring sweat 15 minutes into a ride. Having a couple dozen of these is a nice convenience. Amazon Basics are great. Fan - I installed a circular fan on the ceiling in my home gym, makes a huge difference. Heart Rate Monitor - I use the Peloton one and have had no issues Yoga mat - For any of the floor programs you’ll want this. The Peloton yoga mat is super nice. Yoga blocks - I found some cheap ones on Amazon that are just fine. They’re useful for a lot of the stretching routines. Foam roller - pure torture, but great for working out stiff or sore spots Lacrosse ball - random, but a great way to work out knots Bike water bottle - something insulated like the Camelbak Podium Chill Also, I agree on skipping the bike shorts. You’ll be sore for a week and then adapt.
I've been supplementing the "crush your core" program by Emma Lovewell (bae) into my days where I do easier rides. It's a great program.
Since Peloton is more popular now, Etsy has a few good accessories, like a bigger bottle holder, extra hooks for towel, HRM, phone mounts.
About a month away from this thing arriving. I’m down about 20lbs this year mostly due to eating better, so hoping if I keep that up plus mix in consistent use of the bike I can shed another 20-30 before the spring. Would have been further along but got derailed for a few months at the start of COVID. What is the TMB group you guys mentioned previously?
Just finished week 1 of that and finishing up the beginner yoga program. It's been nice to add those in to cycling. Just hit my 100th workout yesterday so feeling good about it. Down about 10 lbs so far.
I have the Sprintray, but it doesn’t work well for me because of my height. But I have a phone mount that’s awesome.
I’ve always trashed you power zone guys, but I’m running out of 60 minute rides so I decided to test again. With my numbers where they should be, I took a 60-minute power zone, and holy shit was it hard. Wilpers still sucks but I’ll be riding more of those.
If I have one complaint it’s that more instructors don’t offer power zone classes or classes 60 minutes or longer. It’s hard to get excited about looking at Wilpers for 60 minutes. Plus, his music selection is god awful IMO.
Wilpers music fucking sucks and is pretty lame overall. The 60 minute rides are legit for weekends. Sidenote, I've been messing around with my bike fit as I cant get it the way I want. Anyone have any good fit videos other than that Christina instructor?
Daniel Ocean That shit was tough but awesome. Got to 501 kj in bike and 12.67 miles. Both would be PR on a 30 min ride but of course this logs it as 60 since it's a bootcamp.
damn man. I did 10 miles and barely 300 which is cool but not close to you. 501 is otherworldly congrats. Didn’t feel like working out today but ended doing a quick 30 minute class with Kendall.
This one was bodyweight only but most are weights. This is just the first 60 minute that's specifically for the bike. She has tons of 60 min bootcamps with weights for the tread that you can sub the bike for. Only catch is you have to use app for her bootcamp so you can use the just ride function for the cycling portions.
Did a 20 min rock climb with Dennis and set a new PR yesterday. First time ever doing a class with a guy. I think heavy rock just really motivates me
I start at 52 flat road. For every one degree of elevation I add 2 to bike resistance, so 3 degrees would be 60. Once I cross 60 I stand up most of the time. 80-85 is my jog. 90-100 my run and over 100 is sprint.
By the way my wife was asking me something while I typed and I fucked up the math. 4 degrees on tread would be 60 resistance. I'm an idiot.
Holy Fuck Jess King is annoying, but... you know... them thangs. The butt hurt will stop at some point, right? Cause right now, yikes.
Best instructor they have IMO. Unfortunately have a gut feeling he could be one of the next to leave but hope I am wrong.
Not based on anything. He doesn’t play the social media game and seems like a wildcard. Granted all of their stock is pretty lucrative at this point.
LOL and denis being the best. He behind AT in terms of difficulty and Behind Matt in terms of teaching ability. He is behind Cody in fabulous style. He is also behind Emma, Olivia Kendal and Robin in looks and Behind Jess in all those qualities.
I did a FTP test ride with him today. He actually is a really good technical teacher and there’s not a lot of fluff which I appreciate. I’ll definitely ride with him again. I still find his music selection questionable at best.
this is exactly what I like about Matt he is a good teacher . I like taking his classes to learn new stuff. I was kinda joking he is okay just down the list if I am going to take a class. Did my 300th meditation class luckily it was a live class and got a shout out by probably my number 2-3 instructor Aditi.
Continued my foray into power zone rides today and took the two for one ride with Matt and Dennis. Christ, it was like a bad lounge act. Cringe. Ride kicked my ass though.
