Before Tyler's statement Stapleton said something similar during an interview about Farm Aid I think. And Sturgill and Isbell have been pretty openly against Trump, etc for awhile.
Stapleton literally said "Do I think black lives matter? Absolutely" And people lost their fucking minds over it.
Lmao, I was going to say he didn’t even bash Trump. He just stated all humans should be treated equally. People are fucking nuts.
Of all the shows I’ve been to in my life, I’ve noticed two in particular that had far and away the worst crowds I’ve ever witnessed: 1. Stapleton right as his fame was exploding at an outdoor amphitheater in suburban Memphis. 2. Childers at a packed venue in Atlanta nearly a year ago. So many camo jackets, Yeti hats, and patchy facial hair. And I saw a guy in his mid-to-late 40s propose as Childers was playing “Lady May.” So I’ve got that going for me. Which is nice.
Went to see DBT when they played Lincoln a few years back. Packed full of bros in the audience. Guessing they haven't ever actually heard the songs. Lots left to get beer when Patterson gave a speech about a recent police shooting
Went this year in Atlanta to sturgill and Tyler and was shocked at how many shitty rednecks were there and then remembered that it was technically country music and I shouldn’t be surprised. It’s just well made and written music to me. I don’t really pay attention to genre
Ive basically written off the outdoor amphitheater shows here because for whatever reason, and the location with the city does not matter, the crowds usually have a significant decline from indoor venues. Usually Nashville will get the same artists at Bridgestone or Ryman, and dont have to deal with that type of riff raff so drive is worth it. Sometimes Asheville will come up as an option and feel like crowds are better there too. My buddy opened up for Luke Combs last year so had backstage passes etc. It was at the ampitheater in North Atlanta. Not my music genre, but figured why not. Woo boy.
I had floor seats to the show at The Forum and every other week or so I get irrationally upset that the show was cancelled. Really hope they hit the road again together when things get back to normal. Maybe bring Isbell along and make it a full blown anti chud tour.
Lakewood is my least favorite venue in Atlanta. It’s a giant amphitheater just south of the former Turner Field. There’s no good way to get there and it’s in a dicey part of town. Verizon in Alpharetta is obviously much closer and newer, but you’re going to get some of the rich yuppies there. Chastain is probably the best in terms of location and such but they have a curfew so shows start earlier and end earlier. ETA: This is just the outdoor amphitheaters, mind you.
Never been to a show in Atlanta and thought it would be better at an amphitheater. Lot of good venues in Atlanta, but amphitheaters always feel impersonal to me. Would rather do arena
When asked if he supported the Black Lives Matter movement, Stapleton added: "Do I think Black lives matter? Absolutely...I don't know how you could think they don't." Edit: all this was already posted.
It’s just delightful to me when morons who don’t actually listen to the words find out their favorite artist probably hates everything they stand for.
"Thank you very much. Alright, we got one more of this noise. Then we get to all the shit all the yeti coolers came for. ". In between Mercury and Fastest
Last song of the same night. *points to the rafters "I see all the yeti coolers found the door." Then shreds my new favorite version of Call to Arms
Looks like vol 1 of the bluegrass recordings is coming out on Friday. You can listen to previews of all the tracks https://www.highresaudio.com/en/alb...1LM2eGTKMP-V-Ai_vvpUPOiNSLXvHk1FZ_eXzfTihnr8I
Just discovered a lullaby renditions of sturgill album on Amazon I know what I am going to sleep to tonight
lmao. leon lott’s call to fame might be even more cringe worthy. he’s the tough fella that raided a college party house because the greatest Olympian of our time dared to smoke some ganga in his jurisdiction
