Do you look to see the requirements for all the programs? Seems like you play a lot online and fare pretty well so I'm sure you could be unlocking a ton of stuff.
Na not really. I really don't play that much. I may play 1-2 online games a week. 3-4 max when the guys I play 2k with are busy. I think I have about 130 games online and half of those game in one 3 week stretch where we took a break from 2k before the new one came out so I was on The Show a lot. My comment wasn't a "Holy fuck you play a lot" it was more "Damn that squad is loaded." Didn't mean any shade by it.
Not sure why I did it but I caught up on all the Topps Now bullshit this week. I was 3 weeks behind and some of them were a real pain in the ass.
I had 25 Brandon Lowe orders in for like 170 something that I just never took out because I honestly forgot about them. They all trickled in today.
I did 2 of them and just got XP? Do I have to do all of them? Do I get all of the players or choose one? How does it work?
Complete all of them and you get a pack and you can pick 2/3/4 players. Honestly not sure what you get I didn’t complete it yet.
You have to do all 8 DS moments, then you can pick him (and three others from that set of 8). This set of moments isn't too tough, but there's a bunch of multi-game moments, so it was kind of tedious. Can also get a D'Arnaud card that mashes; the rest are kinda meh from this set. You don't need to do any of the Wild Card moments for him.
Yea these have all been easy except Correa. Had 3 tb left and flied out to the track on my last one. Gotta do it over. Going to take a little over an hour total. That's not bad.
That wasn't bad at all. Took d'Arnaud and and Brosseau, both 125/125 for bench bats. Correa and Torres were easy choices for the others. Not sure either will make my lineup but solid cards.
So between that, innings players (in moments) and monthly players you can acquire an insane team for free.
I’d go Topps Now and Monthly Awards instead of the innings programs. If you nabbed the free Mills (lowkey best pitcher in the game) and Giolito no hitter cards, it’s a pretty stupid good lineup for a couple days work, just needs a couple of bullpen arms: C POTM Grandal or TN Alfaro 1B Bellinger 2B POTM Mondesi SS POTM Tatis 3B POTM Ramirez LF POTM Castellanos CF TN Buxton RF TN Yaz TN Bichette TN Turner TN Duvall TN Yordan Alvarez POTM Walsh POTM Paxton POTM Carrasco TN Mills TN Giolito TN Maeda TN Alexander TN Crochet POTM Diaz POTM Mayers
Don’t think it’s much more work for Topps Now than completing the innings player programs (which generally require some online play and most of the players aren’t as good - plus completing the Topps Now moments puts in progress towards the 2020 monthly awards guys)
No doubt just trying to say to him if he did this along the way he’d maybe have a few more dudes he liked for fractional time. Agree on most of the monthly guys being piles of shit. If he was considering innings guy it’s just free points.
Oh, I was comparing the Topps Now set to the innings player programs. Postseason players are good, just not enough of them to legitimately fill out a roster like you can with Topps Now. I get it on some level, but I am a bit miffed at the insane contact power creep...there are just a shitload of guys with 125/125 against opposite handed pitching. The list of guys with more power than Babe is bonkers (Adalberto Mondesi?) Kinda hope they expand the range to like 150 next year for more gradation, and keep 140 or 145+ pretty tightly restricted.
d'Arnaud is 125/125 vs righty as a righty which is just dumb. Brosseau is 125/125 vs lefties, the same as Frank Thomas. There's no reason to do that. It just cheapens the truly great players. Cool they had a good moment/game/week but Brosseau shouldn't be Frank fucking Thomas.
Just to argue against myself - the one thing I do like about this is that there at least is the possibility of some roster variability. But even still, seems like everyone is trotting out Trout, Mantle, Tatis, and Ruth, then 4 more of about 8-10 other guys.
I have no idea what to spend my stubs on. For folks who have played this in years past, what new content can we expect from here on out? I know there will be a couple more inning programs, but new pack types? More opportunities to open Beach Ball and Ducks packs? Or should I just start hoarding low 90s cards for Team Affinity?
I'm down for that. I'm far from a God squad but I have a lot of power and that's the most important thing for me. I don't make a ton of contact so I need it to leave the yard when I do. I'll just show you my SP and you tell me who I can use but I don't get the whole outlier thing.
Bought HRD cards to unlock HRD Griffey Now I'm spending it on the TA exchanges to help unlock the Trout collection, as well as be ready for good TA4 cards I may want
It's under 'quirks'. It's what lets certain pitchers throw 102 every pitch That was more of a joke though, I think it's a dumb feature but as long as we go sub-diamond I'm good
This is the one thing I like better about 2k. There's always something to spend XP on lol. You can buy a +5 boost to all major categories. You pay on a per game basis. They have new clothes/shoes pretty regularly so you can change your fit all the time. I wish The Show had pre-made uniforms you could buy and I wish you could use the shoes and other gear on all players, not just created players.
Ok cool. I thought that's what it was but I've never looked to see exactly what it was. I've just heard Koogs talk about it. I'll go ahead and say no Kopech. Not sure if he's a diamond or not but that fastball is real.
Oh ok. Yea I have the Judge, Stanton, and Cano in my lineup lol. Like I said, I like power.I didn't realize there was a Griffey. Is he great?
125 power vs both sides. You need 10 of the others to unlock him so you're almost there, and you have the pricey ones. There are ~5 that are under 10k
I'm in the same boat, I stopped flipping a while ago and I am at sitting at 1.5 million and it's climbing just through the shit the game is giving. Also, as a side note, if you have not been in collections since Trout, make sure you check it out. I was in there for the first time since Trout yesterday and I ended up opening 30 Ballin Packs.
I currently play on a 10 year old 55' TV that probably has 80ms lag. My internet isn't great either, like 15-20mb bc we don't have fiber here. Moving in 3-4 weeks and the TV I play on now is going to our bedroom bc we never watch TV in there and getting new TV's for the living room and game/shoe room. The Sony OLED will be in the living room for TV and movies but the tech guy told me the LG OLED is better for gaming bc it has less lag. They are as close to a monitor as you can get with a TV and he said I shouldn't be able to tell the difference between it an a monitor. And the new house has 1000mb+ internet. I'm hoping better internet and less lag will help my online hitting but it probably won't.
I got a monitor and the biggest difference it made for me is timing FB. I don’t have those games where someone can just blow them by me for 9 innings. Now I’m not sitting here telling you I’m anything special, just significantly easier to recognize FB off speed. My PCI may or may or may not be within a few feet of the fastball but my timing is there.
By far my best RS performance. All HRD lineup playing at shippet He was houston but I'm the one with the rippoff oilers uniforms
