I'm not a big Toyota fanboy but it would be fun if they decided to get involved. The chairman is a big racing guy but I have no idea if he has any interest in Formula 1 at all.
oh snap. Max has a contract with RB until 2023, but has a break clause that says if they lose their engine supplier then he can leave. Max in a silver arrow in 2022?
I think the bridge is burnt. That said, Renault is losing McLaren and will be without a customer, so I bet they would take them back with open arms.
What’s the word on changes to the engine with the new regs? Less engine manufacturers is not a good thing at all for the sport
Damn...I think Max had an opportunity there to split the Merc's if not take pole. Still looks like he/Red Bull is closing the overall gap to Merc so that's good.
On the broadcast they just said there was an engine issue but sure felt like they were just pulling him off the track before he wrecked
Feel bad for Lando. Should've been a podium for him. Anyway...banner day for Lewis. Probably the GOAT by the time he's done.
If Pierre was an option for that seat I think RB would’ve made that change already. Hulk would be fantastic for the 2nd seat.
That's a good question... Teams set under this hypothetical Mercedes: Hamilton, Bottas Ferrari: LeClerc, Sainz Red Bull: Verstappen, Hulkenburg McLaren: Riccardo, Norris Alpine: Alonso, Ocon Aston Martin: Vettel, Stroll Williams: Russell, Latifi Teams with openings Alpha Tauri: Both Seats Open Alfa Romero: Both Seats Open Haas: Both Seats Open Ferrari will use a seat at Haas and Alfa to put two of the following 3 driver acadamy kids in F1 (Shumacher, Shwartzmann, Ilott) Alpha Taur will likely fill its two seats between Kvyat, Albon or Gasely That basically leaves Checo with seats available at Alfa Romero or Haas. I don't think Mags or Grosjean will be in F1 next year. My pure guess on the fills... Alpha Tauri: Albon, Gasley Alfa Romero: Kimi, Shumacher Haas: Checo, Illott
The weather sucking ass really hurt Ferrari getting those three academy kids some FP1 time in the cars. Already see rumors of them having all three getting in cars at Bahrain meaning Vettel having to sit out a session. Can't wait to see that drama unfold lol
Ocon has shown nothing this season. Unless you see a huge change next season I don't expect to see him driving in F1 once his deal is up after next season. Pierre has talent but lacked confidence and wasn't ready for the promotion he got last year. But he's been the best RB driver outside of Max this year. RB also has another talented kid they will likely put in the Alpha in 2022 so Albon or Pierre will need to look for a ride. Looks like Pierre knows it will be him.
Gasly should get out of the RBR program I think. They'll never (imo) put him back in a RB car. But if Russell loses his seat, I'm done with Williams.
Russell going to Mercedes as the #2 to Lewis is a legit option. That kid is talented enough to be driving at a much better team
Someone that brings money... Checo, Kvyat have major money sponsors behind them. They both could be looking for rides. They could also sell the seat to Mercedes, Ferrari or Redbull if they have a youth driver they desperately want to see in F1. Ocon would fit in this category along with maybe one of ferrari kids who doesn't land at Alfa or Haas.
I hate non race weeks. I am freaking hooked on this shit man...even in current times when there's a 90% chance everyone knows who the top 2 will be even before qualifying starts. If all the new changes over the next couple of years even the playing field out like they hope it will, I'll be hooked on this shit like it's crack.
I swear RB is always threating to quit over the engines. There is zero chance Ferrari accepts the freeze because its sitting on the worst engine in the field.
Would be funny to see Red Bull quit and Monster take their place. Monster already sponsors tons of other motorsports.
Monster is just in the sponsorship business. Red Bull has an entire racing division. Losing RB would be awful for F1. I could only imagine the bidding war between Ferrari and Mercedes for Max if that happened
My guess is a brand partnership with either the NFL, or College Football (likely just with the university of Texas) Edit: another guess is the Miami GP gets confirmed and maybe Red Bull is the title sponsor. Long shot: they announce they’re creating an Indy car team
The biggest issue is the noise they make. I don’t mind the sound they make. If F1 goes to EV engines I can only imagine the amount of tears of the sound of cars.
