i really enjoyed it and the taiwan story in the background is really prescient given the news today. sorkin was always good at those things.
i really enjoyed it, sterling brown did the role he was given pretty well although he blatantly doesnt look like someone named leo mcgarry
Very much enjoyed it. Bartlett and Toby still have amazing acting chops. Everyone else was good as well. It’s true that no one can replace Leo but getting one of the best actors of today to fill in certainly go the job done.
Had heard great things about this show for years but never bothered to watch it. Started it a couple weeks ago and am currently in the middle of Season 2 and it is such a fantastic show. Really hits you, especially when compared with what is currently taking place in politics and the WH. Did watch the special episode and enjoyed it. Am looking forward to Charlie kind-of becoming a little badass.
I remember a similar sentiment when the show originally aired. Everyone hated Bush and wished Bartlett was our president.
beist 2020: If you’re going to watch the Bachelorette I’m just going to go downstairs and re-watch The West Wing again.
Fusiontegra 2020: Fucking shut up (my puppy was barking at her shadow and waking the house up...but the slogan really encapsulates my feelings toward politics also)
West Wing Weekly did an episode on the Hartsfield’s Landing special. Talked to Sorkin. http://thewestwingweekly.com/episodes/020
I saw a headline about HBO Max making it available to non-subscribers. Didn't get the details but it should be on google somewhere.
Just began watching West Wing for the first time. I’m enjoying it bc I like Sorkin, whoah boy does this not hold up to time just 20 years later.
I'm assuming he's talking about how optimistic the show is about our government and the people who run it compared to the reality of what it actually is.
I’m rewatching again because it’s about to leave Netflix and season 6 is way better than I remember. 5 is definitely the low point
It holds up. It's just depressing what they consider hardball politics and things being overly partisan.
Watching S3, E7 this morning over breakfast. This Bruno rant is just wonderful. Because I'm tired of working for candidates who make me think that I should be embarrassed to believe what I believe, Sam! I'm tired of getting them elected! We all need some therapy, because somebody came along and said, "'Liberal' means soft on crime, soft on drugs, soft on Communism, soft on defense, and we're gonna tax you back to the Stone Age because people shouldn't have to go to work if they don't want to!" And instead of saying, "Well, excuse me, you right-wing, reactionary, xenophobic, homophobic, anti-education, anti-choice, pro-gun, Leave It To Beaver trip back to the Fifties...!", we cowered in the corner, and said, "Please. Don't. Hurt. Me." No more. I really don't care who's right, who's wrong. We're both right. We're both wrong. Let's have two parties, huh? What do you say?
This is a great monologue. According to the podcast, Ron Silver (Bruno) was a pretty big conservative post 9/11
Took the new guys a season to really figure out how to the drive the Ferrari that Sorkin left them. Just completed my rewatch over the weekend and season 6 is a lot better than I remember. 7 is still great
Well since tonight is the last night for WW on Netflix, I’m going through and watching all of the Christmas episodes. About to fire up my favorite episode (17 People) for one last ride. I’m supposed to be getting the box set as a gift tomorrow, but it still feels like the end of an era. Goddamnit I love this show so much
They didn't get rid of them, the owners of the IP took them back to put on their own streaming service. The streaming wars are in full swing and Netflix is going to struggle to get network TV shows on their app for the foreseeable future.
