You were probably thinking of me. My company does work at Camp Lejeune so I go there usually every couple weeks, I always stop by the main store in Jacksonville which is where I have had my best luck finding any hard to find bottles. They used to always have ECBP but have been dry for a few months now.
is the main store the one on Marine Blvd? I'm going to be at my folks' beach house in North Topsail for a week starting on Saturday and may have to check it out. I've actually had some luck with a few things that are tougher to find (McKenna 10 for example) at the Sneads Ferry store.
Saw this and was disappointed as I paid $150 over the winter But on whim I looked behind the first box
Yep, that's it. I have found some decent stuff there but here recently only hard to find bottles I can consistently find there are McKenna 10 and eagle rare.
Find out what day the store gets their shipment in and call around 9:30 and ask what behind the counter bourbons, if any, came in. Or just ask them the name of the particular bourbon you’re looking for came in. The main ABC i go to would put ECBP behind the counter but when I picked up the vault bottle they had it sitting out on the main bourbon shelf. I would have easily missed it if I didn’t decide to peruse the aisle before leaving.
So I mistakenly thought I had the Ch. 3 sitting at home, but it turns out I have the Ch. 2 If I can justify having either the Ch. 3 or Ch. 4 which one should I go with?
Haven't had the 4 but I loved the three. Barrell proof frankenstein blend of Knobb, Bakers, Bookers and Basil Haydens
I was planning to go by there to pick up some cheap stuff and that EC Rye is one of them. Evan Williams SiB and Old Grand Dad 114 are the other 2
Allocation list for my bourbon fest is attached We get the right to buy a tier 1 bottle and a tier 2 bottle based on wrist band number and its randomly selected. They didn't announce what will be tier 1 and 2 yet though tier 1 (never find on the shelf) tier 2 (sometimes find on the shelf) wish me luck tomorrow night
I haven't been buying much since Covid. There are a few things I've gotten lucky with in Tennessee but most of my purchases were from Dalton, GA
I used to hate that I wasn’t buddy buddy with any shop owners and missed out on the good stuff in the back. But once I started only buying from 1 store I selfishly love it. Now I’m getting texts from the owner any time something rare comes in and I’m hoping it pays big dividends in the coming weeks. Sucks it has to be like that but I prefer that route over stores that put it all on the shelves for ridiculous prices
I've had to cut back on my purchases as I had a large hoard that I wasn't drinking. I transitioned to a one-in-one-out policy but that wasn't helping much either. I have to avoid going to stores as I see stuff I want to buy. But I'll definitely be spending another $260 at Total wine before year end so I can reach the Grand Reserve status. Basically what I'm saying is that I'm living vicariously through all of you right now. Keep up the good work, gents!
Tons of 14yr 11mo KC store picks at Beverage Mart for $50. I haven’t had their pick yet, I’ll wait until their supply gets a little lower as I’m still sitting on the Gem City bottle. edit - grabbed one, why not, oddly they have a 9y they picked two months before their 15...
for 170 bucks it better be damn good. Looks like its Rutledge (former 4R master distiller) paired with a bunch of new money who wanted their own bourbon label.
Liquor store by my office gets their deliveries on Thursdays so I always go there about 10 minutes before they open and this time of year there's a handful of us waiting. This liquor store is pretty small and almost never gets really anything too special in but anytime they get an allocated bottle in they put them behind the counter on display and it's one per person, so that's nice. Walked in today and saw the ECBP and jumped in line. They also had another bottle there, Legent. Off the top of my head I couldn't remember anything about it but thought I remembered someone in here talking about it. I was third in line so I had to make a quick decision and figured $40 for an allocated bottle was worth the gamble. So I'm super excited to snag the new ECBP batch but pretty disappointed when I searched this thread for Legent and seen it described as aged in a dogs asshole, oh well.
Can’t wait for you to try it. I sent samples to Leeroy Jenkins! and g8r (along with other things like I think EHTBP and a sherry cask finished Belle Meade) let’s just say they knew which sample was the Legent...
Worst bourbon you’ve ever had added to OP: Legent Hatfield (was that the name of the bottle, NYGator ?)
Went hunting today. Stopped by 4 stores and really nothing popped I needed to buy. That said, thoughts on WTMK Decades for 150?
Yes, I dumped it about two weeks ago. LOL. I think Hartfield & Co https://www.hartfieldandcompany.com/spirits/bourbon-whiskey
Anybody interested in trading for A Midwinter's Night Dram? I'm on vacation and saw three bottles of AMND 8,3 for $100 on Sunday. I don't need three bottles but will help out anybody that can't get their hands on it if there is anything left in there tomorrow when I stop back by.
Plenty of market ITT (and on the secondary if need be) for them, if you have the means grab all three.
Talked about it recently that I made a section of bourbon for my wife. So I put the legent in hers, just noticed it was opened and saw it in her cup. Asked her how it was? “It gave me instant heartburn” tried a sip, holy fuck it’s terrible.
