last time they did this there was a big day that they claimed was an error by a lab and I still haven’t seen any concrete evidence to prove that’s the case. Very possible that they are playing with the numbers. You know, what the government should definitely be doing during a pandemic.
I know I did. More in the "there's days I just want to curl up in a ball way" on top of cabin fever. I got laid off in November and despite staying on payroll till Jan I was still staying home 90% of the time even before all this cause we had no idea when I was gonna start work again. Got married in Sept last year, laid off in Nov, the covid shut the world down, then wife's work dropped her to part time for 3 months during the shutdown. To say it has not been the first year of marriage we were planning on would be an understatement.
I realize it's a moot point but I hope someone already filed a request under the Florida Sunshine law for the info. (If it applies, I'm not a lawyer)
Give it up for my county, we finally hit the 1% confirmed case threshold today: 2,744 total cases, 273,213 population only took us seven months, well on our way to that magical herd immunity
luckily I get along with my wife she has been great through this. Being extremely introverted has helped me get by. I had my workout stuff at home video games and my kindle so I have doing the stay at home stuff for a while.
FL did report eventually, 6 hours after their normal time. Delay purportedly because the Surgeon General was suspicious of some deaths on the report. They’ll be reviewing all reported COVID related deaths. Certainly won’t be touching the deaths that were swept under the rug.
Alabama was super late reporting today too. 100% believe red states are going to start getting lax in reporting for the next few weeks to try to make it seem like it’s gone before the election
My oldest sons girlfriend tested positive today. She stayed over here on Saturday night and left Sunday (he’s 18, relax) and went back to her college. She hung out with my daughter all day while me and my boys went to the hog game. So now both of my oldest kids are quarantined for 14 days.
Most schools in our area are either increasing or going virtual outright because of this. My wife’s school (charter school ), on the other hand, is increasing in-person learning to 4 days from 2 effective Monday
We just went from 2 days to full in person this week. The lower grades have been phasing in over the last couple weeks. Last Friday’s report was the highest number if student cases since school started. A whopping 10 out of 13500 in person students.
So I got really sick around February of this year. Basically was so exhausted I couldn’t get out of bed for about 4 days. The more I think about it the more I think I had covid then and didn’t realize it was already here.
South Dakota has low unemployment. I don’t believe they fair well if you analyze the quality of employment though. That argument was one I could see her making a month ago. When your state has 36% positivity and almost 1 out of every 1000 people is being diagnosed with covid DAILY, you should probably take a break from cable news and shut the fuck up. total cases per 1 million people shows that North Dakota is the only state that has done a worse job with covid than South Dakota.
sounds like ya’ll have done a good job if those numbers are reflective of what’s actually going on but entire countries have shut down for fewer cases and we’re using them as rationale to ramp things up even more.
“When you get this disease, it hits you how easy it is to prevent. We are asked to wear cloth over our mouth and nose, wash our hands and avoid crowds. These minor inconveniences can save your life, your neighbors and the economy. Seldom has so little been asked for so much benefit. Yet the message will be broadly heeded only if it is consistently and honestly delivered by the media, religious leaders, sports figures and public servants. Those in positions of authority have a duty to get the message out.” - Chris Christie https://www.wsj.com/articles/i-shou...68?redirect=amp#click=https://t.co/mMGuGMYKND
Probably at least half the deaths so far could have been prevented with universal mask wearing. Maybe more.
Yeah, I am terrified to watch this. Even watching that trailer put me in a shitty mood. I cant imagine my mood after watching the entire thing.
My wife one county over has had that many students of her own positive. We require masks, they don’t.
I'm not sure your point on the bold above, but if you mean what I think you mean, it's evidence of how little people understand exponential growth.
2nd worst in cases per capita. Worst hospitalizations per capita in the country. Hospitals are completely full across the state and all 3 major health care systems have activated their emergency plan, but doesn't fit her narrative so she's gonna ignore it. She also wrote an op-ed on how the "science" on masking isn't clear. Her approval rating is tanking. 973 new cases today, 44% positivity. Keep spiking the football at the 20 yard line, COVID Kristi, you fucking dumbass.
Update: Surprised it took this long, but as of this morning my wife's class is shut down for two weeks due to a positive case. The person was symptomatic at school yesterday before going home. My wife and I just got tested (starting to show some mild symptoms but not sure if it is just in our heads). yay
Are there morning questionnaires that require students or parents to answer them before coming to school? I don't understand how someone with symptoms isn't immediately expelled if they come to school. Now if they develop them while at school that's something entirely different.
It was not a student (and not my wife). Everyone has their temperature taken before entering the building. The person started feeling like they had a cold Tuesday night and then got worse while at school yesterday before going home around noon. Luckily my wife and this person are the only two that wear a mask in their part of the school so hopefully that helps minimize potential spread. This person also hosted a birthday party at their house this past Sunday with about 30 people there... Their class had a student's father test positive last week and the kid was pulled but they didn't shut the classroom down. Wonder if the kid was asymptomatic and spread it before their dad tested positive.
Only 11000 test in Florida? Did the state just give up? It’s been a shitshow for a while, but they were testing a lot at one point, no?
Every single time I hear “only old people and people with pre existing conditions will die” I think “have you asked that contingency on their opinion about masks you selfish pos?”
They figure all of those ppl have the ability to go live in a basement for 12 months without social interactions.
Our small pod teacher just notified us that her daughter whom is over 18 and she lives with tested positive on a rapid antigen test today. Fuck.
What's the reliability of those tests generally? I tested negative on one today but don't know which specifically. Just that it was rapid and 15 minutes before results.
