14yr 11mo SP Knob Creek is the anti-Legent that has helped me with my studies tonight and set my mind right for at least 12min of the debate (if I make it that long.)
Same owners. Two good stores. CNG on Rutherford is another one of their stores. When I was in the game, they were the hot spots. It's all about relationships and being there at the right time. Store down Memorial passed the airport is a good one. Longhorn on Broad will get stuff. You got to get in with them. Everything is behind the counter. Many months ago I asked CNG if they had W107. Wanted $100 . Fuck that. Also store on Lascassas off Rutherford gets stuff. But even back when it was marked up.
From what I'm told, it's brothers. All with engineering degrees. Last time I went to buy something for a friend at Total, they gave me shit about not seeing my face. Tried to play the buy two handles of cheap shit to buy the allocated. I told them to fuck off.
bourbon fest went well.... Wife: weller full proof store pick and mckenna 10 sister: rockhill farms and mckenna 10 some couple my wife knew: weller full proof store pick and eagle rare store pick Me: weller 12 and mckenna 10 also grabbed a ECBP cuz why not (b520)
Grabbed a couple MWND. Will PM the guys that asked first. Side note, went into a hot dog place yesterday up here in NY. First off, in the beer fridge they had Westbrook Mexican Cake which I feel like is rare to see. Get up to the counter and they have Pappy 23 yr ($80 per oz), Pappy 10 yr ($25 per oz), and GTS ($20 per oz) sitting by the tegister. Also had unopened bottles of GTS and WLW sitting out with their other random liquors. Didn't try anything but was incredibly random to see.
Got a Remus repel reserve and a makers private select that was really nice instead not sure I’ve tasted that much chocolate in a bourbon before
Bourbon or Rye? I see the Rye fairly often around $65 Savannah Distribution did a WFE Bourbon (6 year Barrel 4806) and sold a few bottles to a number of stores in the Atlanta/Athens market in 2018/19. I found one this spring but I’ve only ever seen that one.
Really good night of drinking with a friend... W12, Lot B, ORVW 10, PVW 15, WLW, GTS, Handy in that order.
Either. Have never seen a bottle in the wild. See them all over secondary. Not sure if store picks or special releases but curious since they seem to be popular
If you ever see a WFE 4yr rye for at or near retail (I think $45) then absolutely buy it. I generally see it on the secondary in the $70-80 range, and, maybe it’s because I don’t love rye that much, I’m out at that price. For $50 bucks though, it’s a great barrel proof rye (I admittedly haven’t had a ton of barrel proof ryes to compare it to though.)
Ran out to get grout to finish the new wet bar. Couldn’t keep myself from stopping by the liquor store on the way back home. Glad the manager recognized me in a mask and after four months away. (That’s your Old Tub tjsblue)
Starting to see an uptick in available bottles as bourbon season is coming closer. Blanton and EC toasted barrel today. BTAC expected to start coming into the state in the next month or so.
This is fascinating to me, you guys seem to enjoy chasing the bottles more than just the drinking aspect. And I kind of get the fun and satisfaction that can come from getting a nice deal.
EC toasted barrel is not $50 good. It’s not bad, but just fine. Prefer the Rye for $30 or ECBP for $60.
Picked up a woodinville today. Unique flavor that I like but I’d like a higher proof. They have a store pick too, but not sure if it’s barrel proof or not bc I ignored it based on $30 more.
Don’t worry about it, i wanted to ask a few questions sinçe I am a whisky enthusiast but not sure this is the best place
The barrel proofs are fantastic. Just on another level. If they had a store pick im almost positive it would be barrel proof. I strongly recommend giving it a shot
