Chase Wolf wasn't at practice today and speculation is he's positive. Wolf is 3rd string, considered to be the most elusive and has the longest arm. So we're onto Danny Vanden Boom, who could easily be sick as well, and then to Groshek
Pretty sure Vanden Boom is Dutch for “of/from the sticks.” Great name for a walk on from the rural Midwest.
I’m sure this was against some like Class D level opponents in High School, but this RB for Wisconsin had some hilariously insane stats as a QB. “finished career with 5,236 passing yards and 72 TD passes ... rushed for 4,447 yards and 57 TDs”
Man, a RB throwing for over 600 yards might be more impressive than a walk in doing it. Our old friend ‘fuck us’ has me intrigued.
Since joining the big ten the huskers have given Wisconsin RBs prime tape for NFL scouts at least a half dozen times. James White, Montee Ball, Melvin Gordon, Johnathan Taylor... all had 100 + yard games on us iirc.
I was under the impression that fudging numbers would by default mean a number of players are out 21 days. This article implies that there are situations in which the team can pause team activities without having players sit out the full 21 days. I have almost no confidence we will play this weekend. https://omaha.com/sports/huskers/fo...cle_eb572ce4-750e-503b-a3d4-bcfba8878f82.html
I’d rather not play, then lose, and eventually have a team filled with positive covid tests. Unless Coach Frost went with the old herd mentality
Pretty selfish to want the team to play a team with multiple positive tests that hails from the COVID capital of the world. The conversation around all of this is so damn gross
Brings me such joy to see those chuds get stuck at Eppley after dear leader left them in the cold with no way home lmao
Not sure if this is available but does anyone know where to find more details on the gambling bill in Nebraska. As much as I want it to happen, I’ve heard some mention it’s not as favorable as it appears.
Well it only allows the gambling at horse tracks, of which there are few. Still a step in the right direction though.
There was never any chance that Alvarez was going to let this game occur once Mertz tested positive. WOAT husk of all tim.
If only there was ever a way to have started earlier and have built in extra bye weeks for situations like this. I once saw a schedule that started on September 5 and had extra weeks - I think it was some sort of weird fan fiction.
Conference sucks, but so does covid. At this point just let teams practice and scrimmage and move onto next year.
I knew that, but I had read that it basically allows all the casinos to be ran by some corporation involved with the Winnebago tribe. So they’d have a monopoly in a sense and also the tax revenue wouldn’t be as good as expected since the tribe has exemptions. I’ve seen this a couple different places but haven’t seen the actual “bill”. I think most states have their own gambling commission which this wouldn’t have.
Ok, a few things. The language of 429 only exempts racetrack gambling from the state constitutional prohibition. It doesn't describe who gets to run these but for authorized gaming operators. The language of 430 limits it to licensed racetracks and establishes a gaming commission in Nebraska. There are already licensed state tracks and most don't have anything to do with Winnebago http://www.horseracing-tracks.com/tracks/ne/menuNe.html As to the taxes: According to initiative 431, casino gambling in Nebraska would be taxed at a 20% rate. 70% of that tax dollar will go towards property tax relief if passed. https://www.1011now.com/2020/10/15/nebraska-voters-to-decide-on-legalizing-casino-gambling/ If you're interested in the text of the bills: https://sos.nebraska.gov/sites/sos....ions/2020/Init. Measures 428-431 Pamphlet.pdf
Also reading how the licensing will go makes it look all above board and not limited to any particular group (pages 15-17 of that last link fyi).
Do any? I know they don't have a track by their casino. Also...the only tracks I'm familiar with are the ones in Omaha and GI....I think Columbus has/had a dog track but not sure if that would be included, if it's still around?
I generally know nothing about most of these places but my link lists: Aksarben Atokad Park Columbus Fonner Park Horsemen's Park Lincoln Madison Downs Mitchell
It is neat seeing Doc Thom's ghost on my tv lobbying against it. That alone tells me it's prob a good idea.
The thing I had read from what a friend sent me was them saying the horse tracks would allow the development group involved with the tribe to come in and run the newly established casino. Basically the tracks couldn’t fund this thing, so they teamed up to get it going in exchange the Winnebago group got to be the operating casino within the track. Again, I’ll probably vote yes, but didn’t want it to turn into a situation where it prevents further movement going forward.
