The little guy was neutered this week. My gf bought him a new “cone” that would hopefully be more comfortable. Every time I see him I imagine he’s going on a long flight and needs a neck pillow and it cracks me up
I like to search the IG geotags of our favorite trails b/c our maniacs invariably end up in rando’s stories. Somehow I missed this one of our pointer from when we’d just adopted her and she was still skin’n’bones.
Wife decided to test out Christmas pajamas for our dogs today. This guys doesn’t mind the hat at all.
We found a pair of Yorkipoos on Wednesday, and were taking care of them until we can find the owners or send them to rescue on Tuesday. One of them is in heat, and my soon to be fixed Great Dane is losing his fucking mind. Thankfully the logistics are literally impossible, and we are able to keep them separated for the most part.
Tonight he's taken an interest in the other one. Thankfully we're getting them spayed tomorrow. Also, the GF has decided that we now have 2 more members of the family. (That's her grandfather, not me)
Got a box of these for ours. They lasted roughly 10 seconds longer than any other. Waste of money if you have a real chewer, IMO, just gotta work it out of them through exercise.
I almost picture Emma like will Smith in « I am legend » now. Nobody is ever around, just the dog(forgot his name) and Emma and I am an idiot, his name is dierks
Flash seems to be getting sicker. She had a couple seizures a few days ago. Was kinda out of it the next day but was okay after that. Suddenly today her legs has been twitching like she is scratching but it seems like she has no control over it. I am afraid that she might not have long. I don’t want her to suffer but there is no way I can make a call to put her down. She is literally the sweetest most loving dog you’ll ever meet. She just seems so grateful for what we do for her. She looks at you with so much love. I am a grown man always saw myself as kinda unemotional or reserved. I feel like crying right. I am sorry for the rant.
I’m going to take her to her vet in the morning. I hope I’m over reacting. She was in the bedroom with me when I posted that and seeing her little leg shake uncomfortably made want to break down. I also worry a lot about her. She is this sweet helpless 70 pound bundle of love.
Having to put down my 12 year old black lab today. Digging the grave this morning wrecked me. He was happy last night as it accidentally worked out I had an extra steak which he got.
Going through this now. Mine had seizures since he was 2 and we had to give him medicine twice a day for it. Our buddy can hardly stand up and I have been having to carry him everywhere. Can’t rest or catch his breath due to a tumor we just found out about. Was the hardest thing to text the vet yesterday for today’s appointment but I told myself and my son that even though we want him here he is suffering. This is the first I have ever had to make this decision for and it absolutely sucks. Props to my parents who have done this for all my precious dogs growing up. sorry man. I hate that you are going through this too.
My Husky has had quite a weekend. He got out Friday from our backyard and we got a call of someone who found him chasing turkey's about a quarter mile down the road. I put up a temporary gate blocking where he could get out. We had a crazy storm last night and my wife let him out this morning without looking and seeing the storm blew the gate I put up blocking where he got out and he got out again. Got a call from someone who found him half a mile away and this time he was apparently chasing deer. Got a bunch of nets and bungee cords to make sure he isn't getting through that gap again.
Might have to take Teddy to the vet. He hasn’t had much of an appetite the last 24 hours and has the shits. Had him over at my dads apartment while I moved a few days ago. I know my dad said he fed him tortilla chips. He also said he “snacked” which I assumed he ate just a little bit of his food, but I’m afraid that he meant snaked as in ate cat shit. Also afraid that when my dad took him on a walk he allowed him to eat goose shit down by the river. He doesn’t seem to be lethargic, but just not eating and has the shits.
Not sure if anyone else has BarkBox, or is considering BarkBox, but right now this months theme is home alone and the toys look fucking awesome. It got me to finally sign up, also paying for the remaining 11 months up front saved like $42 which is cool https://www.barkbox.com/
Our doggos have been amazing around the baby, but I was a little concerned our collie might get jealous ‘cause she’s insanely attached to me. Pfffffffft!
Carlos had himself a couple of days. One dog tried to hump him at the park so he decided to fight all of the dogs. Rott, Doberman, whatever, he was gonna get his retribution. He’s always the most friendly dog there but I guess the switch flipped. That resulted in him getting carried out by his neck. Having a few beers in my buddies back yard and he snuck through the fence to possibly? catch a rabbit 5 or so houses down. The challenge is what makes a heeler worth it but sometimes...
I’m all on-board the heeler/border collie train now. I grew up w/ working dogs, but that collie mutt I posted above you is so insanely intelligent I can’t imagine ever having a non-herder (apologies to my idiot pointer). All dogs are awesome and even the dumbest, or most stubborn, can make amazing pets; but it’s such a singular experience when they understand you instinctually.
Absolutely. They get to the point where no commands are even necessary. This clown is just over a year old so we’re not there yet, but that herding dog connection is so much worth what it takes to get there.
