Kinda random question here, but were any of you fans of The Conjuring? I noticed that it’s playing at one of the AMCs in town this weekend and thought about checking it out. I never did see it and it had pretty good reviews on Rotten Tomatoes when I looked it up there yesterday.
The Conjuring is actually really solid. The worst thing about it is it spawned a shitty Conjuring universe.
The Conjuring is great until the end. Cheesy, cliche happy endings to horror movies really annoy me though.
Hereditary, It Follows, Drag Me to Hell. Best horror movies in the past decade. (Drag Me to Hell is technically 11 years old, but I’ll let it past)
One Cut of the Dead is more comedy than horror but way up there with the best of past decade or so. One of the most original movies I've seen.
I'm not a horror film guy, gave Hereditary a try after James A. Janisse reviewed it. My goodness, what a movie. I feel like I missed quite a bit of apparitions/details throughout the movie. Need to do a rewatch.
Rewatching classic and 60s/70s horror this week: Dracula, Curse of the Mummy, Werewolf of London, The Cabinet of Dr Caligari, Dr Jekyll and Sister Hyde, Horror of Dracula, Vampyros Lesbos, Herzog’s Nosferatu, Curse of Frankenstein, Blood for Dracula, Flesh for Frankenstein. It’s a shame Halloween is almost over.
anyone into (specifically) The VVITCH or just witchy stuff in general should check out the film HAGAZUSSA
looks to be on Prime streaming, gonna give that a go tonight too, hate how quickly the goat month has flown by
My 6yo somehow saw the Shining when away from me, she’s now watching the 4k disc and loving it, I’m both scared and happy.
Worked from home this past week and I think I watched each of the Halloween movies like 2-3 times. The one with Paul Rudd is so bad. Part 4 has some great moments too but the little kids making fun of Jamie will forever be my favorite.
I appreciate how hard they were swinging for the fences on Halloween 6. They were really trying something, it was just incomprehensible
think I can watch through Halloween 5 and be reasonably satisfied, with 3 obviously falling in the so bad it's good category which reminds me I didn't see 3 at all this year
Lmao so good. Loved when the locals were all sitting in the bar and then decided to take matters into their own hands.
Part 3 is way better as an adult then as a kid disappointed Michael Meyers wasn’t in the film. The death scenes are dope af. They melt a little kids head.
the context of that scene makes it even funnier imo, like you'd think banging basically a stranger in that scenario would be one of the last things on her mind
Watched Halloween all the way through for the first time in a while Friday, it just never “scared” me. it is a movie that gets 100% better when you can see it as they did filming it so the new 4k transfer from the negative is just incredible. All the peeking in windows etc. just looks so real. Highly recommend if you do physical media still.
Watched The Dark and the Wicked this past weekend. First 10-15 is a bit slow but a good jump scare about every 5 min after that with some pretty heavy scenes. Thought it was beautifully shot with the desolate scenery. Could see how some might not be into it but I can definitely see myself watching it again for some things I might have missed in the first viewing.
Just finished and its a gut punch of a movie. Not like Hereditary at all but similar emotional intensity
Watched No Escape Room on Netflix last night. It was ok for a low key no name title. Had a few creepy moments. probably worth a watch if you are caught up and not expecting much.
I put this on in the living room the other day while I was working around the house, I kept stopping to watch for a few minutes at a time. I would also recommend for a filler movie.
