We still making this joke? Now that the Big Ten is back and playing? Everyone is playing and protocols appear to be working. Yay
England is back on lock down, but they are allowing the big soccer leagues to play on. The opposite of terrible.
Teams missing games is expected, I see the play of the season with minimal (true) medical issues at a great success.
Also "minimal" health issues might result in a non-zero number of college athletes having life-long health issues due to exposure related to non-essential athletic competitions. You're cool with that, Whammy ?
How to say this....yes I’m ok with a non-zero amount of risk, especially given the options to opt out / keep scholarship. It’s their choice. The long-term thing continues to be sporadic (correct me if I’m wrong), and it feels like we would have some more insight in to that 11 months in if there was truly a problem. Call me a monster, whatever, but that’s how I think about it. I’d personally risk it, no one is making them play.
Is it their choice though? When they have the pressure to perform to actually make money off their skill set? Sounds a bit coercive in nature, no? It only seems that way if you have no background in medicine. There's legitimately limited knowledge as to what this asshole of a contagion does in the long-term. It didn't exist 12 months ago.
I hear your position re: coercive, I just don’t agree with it. Also - on the medical stuff but you’re trying to prove a negative. Burden isn’t on me in that scenario. Maybe I’ll soften my stance by saying that if the country goes back in to lockdown (under a Biden administration) to get spread back under control I would support no exemptions for sports. If it’s that bad, everything should be shut down. Let’s just have fun today though, glorious day for America
If you hear it, why do you disagree with it? Let's dig deep. When you're dealing with a novel contagion, why would you gravitate toward best-case scenario instead of worst-case scenario, especially when talking about a situation that concerns youthful people who have a lot of life in front of them? Where does logic come in with that decision-making process?
I doubt you see many lockdowns again. The Ohio Gov. basically said he won't do any further shut downs
Imagine thinking we ever had a legit lockdown, beyond maybe NYC, in this country. People don't have a fucking clue in this shithole country.
Ah, The Democrat cheer boy with a victim mentality. Completely Unaware of how out of touch with reality you are. It’s beyond pathetic that so many of you see things so poorly. Acting like things are awful when they really aren’t. A person voting for trump isn’t a personal attack on you. Chances are, you don’t even know who voted for who with most people you interact with on a daily basis. For all you know, The asshole thief could vote blue, while the nice person who lets you in line could vote red, yet you are conditioned to think anyone who doesn’t vote blue is evil and is put to get you. Who is to blame for this? Social media, cell phone videos, mainstream media?
It's not about me. That's the crux of the throughline of our interaction in this thread. Keep showing your ass. I'm pretty good with being on the other side of thinking when it comes to you, Meech, and killer.
Who is it about? Me Accurately pointing out how you are out of touch with reality isn’t evidence of me being an ass. It is evidence of your team politics/victim mentality.
You've proven you don't have the ability to consider those beyond yourself. This is a shithole country directly for many many people, and we're a fucking laughing stock in the world that surrounds us. That's reality. No reason to continue this tired back and forth. Be well.
Agree to disagree. This is a great place for many. It’s far from the shit hole you think it is. At the very least, it’s no worse than most places. You have let the inflammatory media fool your eyes. Your perception isn’t reality.
Again, the people make a place. Things are just things. There's a lot that we do well, but we're not the world leader we once were. We're a world failure in the face of THE issue of the day. It's mindsets like yours that have made us so and that saddens me more than anything, because we do have the resources to not be so shitty. It's our people/society who have failed.
Lots of good people in this nation, and they vote blue and red. POS’s will always exist, and they also vote blue and red. You have been conditioned to see things in a much more negative light. It’s not even your fault. It’s modern society. Information overload.
America is so great, we have 788 billionaires and our unemployment numbers are enormous and the wage gap is increasing. And 70 million folks voted to actively not fix it. What an awesome place.
I know I respect the hell out of countries that separate 500+ children from their families and can’t find them.
Nothing but respect for a country that has allowed COVID to kill almost 240,000 citizens without being willing to sacrifice anything as a whole.
"I've been homeless. I've lived in my car, had to move it around to avoid police so the police wouldn't try to take my kids from me " - Cori Bush on Ali Velshi yesterday. 50 million Americans are food insecure. 500,000 slept outside last night.
