imo, this goes to even further showcase Radiohead’s absolute dominance of the category of music. There sounded to be exactly no differences in the on air version of the song by Radiohead and her piano version that covered both instrumental & lyrics. It could have easily been ripped out of the pages of some long ago maestro’s journal. And she plays a mean piano.
not a big piano guy normally but she is extremely good and very easy on the eyes. something cool in these dark times about watching someone who is super talented having the time of their lives performing their craft
You inspired me to give the catalog a listen again today. Anyhow my favorite recent Radiohead related item I posted in another thread but I think you’ll enjoy. One of my favorite listens, I wish it was on Spotify.
I’ll say it, I wasn’t impressed. It’s pretty bland and lacks personality in the way she played both songs. Don’t see much creativity there, just playing notes.
Tried listening to it in high school, took a break, listened to it in college, listened to it under the influence of heavy drugs and each time they sounded worse. Intricate and experimental =/= good in my opinion.
Favorite drummer rn. Kid is so fucking good. His partner Domi is exceptional on keys as well. Album forthcoming and I’m Bart Scott.
Same. I listened to about 30 seconds of it while taking a shit and had to turn it off and switch back to fantasy football updates.
Even if people don't like this sound, it's not like it all sounds like this. There's diversity from computer glitch stuff to acoustic ballads to rocking electric guitar
I really didn't want to be that guy, but this is spot on. It looks like videos you'd make at the end of your year-long piano lessons from your local piano teacher. It takes some talent, but a hell of a lot of people are capable of playing at that level with time investment, especially very specific notes and songs like that. If you enjoy piano, going down the youtube rabbithole is actually worthwhile. There are even some of those cheesy "piano in public" videos that are really good, featuring concert pianists and shit. You'll notice the difference pretty soon.
The Radiohead one was by the numbers but the Black Sabbath one had some flourishes I thought. She even did the guitar solo!
Do I understand that musical taste is subjective? Yes. Do I still judge people who do not like Radiohead? Also yes.
