Woah. Thor>IM2? The cinematography in Thor just completely ruins it for me. Why does every scene need to be shot from and angle or behind something in the foreground!?
I'm in the minority, but Thor 1 > IM1. I don't think the two trilogies are particularly close, and I think people grade IM1 on a curve because it was the first of the MCU.
It establishes the Asgard world very well. They've always done Loki awesome in every movie even Dark World, arrogant Thor. Jane, Coulson, Selvig, Sif and Warriors 3 all good. And it's really the most important movie that leads into the Avengers. However, bleaching Hemsworth's eyebrows...yikes
“Compromise where you can, where you can’t, Don’t! Even if everyone is telling you that something wrong is something right. Even if the whole world is telling you to move, plant yourself like a tree and say no, you move.”
When you consider the China box office, will Shang Chi be a top 10 grossing movie (inflation adjusted) of all time?
I rewatched IM1 with the 9yo last weekend because he told me he’d never seen it. (He has but he’s probably too young to remember.). It’s really good - and I don’t even like Tony. As trilogies go, one got better as it went and the other got worse but IM1 is a good movie.
I think Thor 1 is a good movie. Saying I think it's better than IM1 doesn't mean I think IM1 is a bad movie. I do think IM1 is overrated by people because it's the first. It's a good movie, but the third act is kind of absurd and ruins some of it for me. Others disagree, and that's fine. The difference for me between what I think is the 9th best MCU movie and the 18th best is essentially how I'm feeling on that day. I think those movies are both somewhere in that grouping.
See, I don’t think that Thor1 holds up that well. Maybe it’s because Ragnarok is so much better, idk.
Thor 1 is fine Thor 2 is meh, but watchable for me. Like I wouldn't pick it, but if its on FX or something and there's nothing else on, I'll watch it and be entertained. Ragnarok is obviously elite and in the Infinite War/End Game and Winter Soldier/Civil War class. Those 5 movies are heads and shoulders better than the rest imo.
Thor 1’s biggest issue is the cinematography. If they just shot it like a normal movie it would be really good.
You're not going to get a normal movie out of Kenneth Branagh. He's always going to do something over the top or off kilter.
Started watching New Girl with the fam a couple weeks ago. re-watching Into the Spiderverse tonight and Peter B. Parker makes so much more sense now
Yea, you'd think animation could survive but it is being hit hard. Need to be in the studios and can't do it all from home.
Even pre-Covid i think they said there would be a 4 year gap. But I just googled Ice Age as a reference and it looks like they had 3-4 years between each one.
They announced the first one in 2015 and that it would have a release date in 2018 Given that the safe assumption is that they were already well underway with production upon announcing it, it’s gonna be another year or two
luckily the sequel has more money invested into it now, but with Covid you're looking at year push on everything
