The North Stars logo/colors has always been more beloved up here than the Wild, and I don't really see that ever changing.
Revenue streams, lads, revenue streams. NHL is going to milk whatever they can until fan gate comes back.
My breakdown. Some of these are awful and even within the meh and good categories there is a ton of missed potential. Good: - Lightning - Canucks - Avs - Rangers - Coyotes - Devils - Flames - Habs - Panthers - Kings Meh: - Ducks - Bruins - Canes - Blackhawks - Oilers - Isles - Blues Shit: - Sabres - Capitals - Jackets - Penguins - Stars - Wings - Wild - Preds - Sens - Flyers - Sharks - Leafs - Knights - Jets
I haven’t seen all of them and studied it but I love the ducks, coyotes and Avs. Lightning is solid and I’ll buy it but they missed a big opportunity to bring back our awful/incredible storm jerseys. rangers is good also. I’m almost certain that I had a Wayne Gretzky Statue of Liberty rangers jersey back in the day.
the whole point is to "reverse" it. aka, do something that looks like an old jersey but make it different.
They need to get going sooner rather than later. If the whole goal of the 20-21 season is to get everything re-set for a standard 21-22 season, they need to get playing because as we saw with the MLB, NCAAF and NFL, without a strict bubble, there are going to be outbreaks. They have a hard cut off of the Summer olympics. Get the season going asap.
What’s the deal with this reverse retro thing? Jerseys look like shit, it’s not apart of a trend, and not innovative or quirky. Just can’t wait for everyone to stop talking about them at this point and I hope not to see them on the ice.
of course not, but they also want to play as many games as possible so they don't lose TV money. The longer they wait, the less games get played. I get that it isn't an apples to apples comparison, but the NBA finished after the NHL and is getting started in a month.
If we don’t have a season because of pro-rated salary, it’s all on the players. Most owners will already be operating at a loss this season.
I mean, I don’t expect to be paid for hours I don’t work. Pro-rated salary seems fair enough for everyone involved. Just keep the minimum salary as it is so no player makes below the regular minimum and we’re good to go.
I always assumed, and maybe incorrectly that players are paid on a per game basis. So salary/82*60 or whatever they go with. Bonuses stay in full, and I like the idea above of keep the min where it is so their per game checks are higher. It’s not ideal but neither is the world we’re living in for a little while longer.
my issue with the pro-rated pay is what about playoffs? do players get a share? if you’re going to make the argument that you only get paid for what they play then they should.
The revenue sharing, so the salary cap already takes into consideration the revenue brought in during the playoffs. You might not be getting paychecks anymore, but your salary is higher because of the playoffs.
Players are paid weekly but are taxed based on the location of each game. players get paid for the playoffs but its a much smaller paycheck than their normal salary.
