Florida might not have winter but we may get a surge just because we are a collection of some of the dumbest people in this country
This isn't surprising at all if they stopped in primarily rural areas along the interstate. I've seen people occasionally without a mask at Publix but that's it, of course not everyone wears them correctly.
Drive-by here but my brother who follows this much closer than I do says it could get 4-5x worse this winter than it was like last April/May. Fair?
In Dallas we just passed the number of people hospitalized from Covid during the previous peak this summer. It’s fall here, like the high was 72 or so today. It’s not even cold here. This can get a shit load worse.
This guy is a good follow. Based on his calcs we should be close to 3k deaths per day by mid December.
We had 900K active cases on May 1st. We have 4.2M active cases rn. Definitely fair. Treatment is better now than it was in April/May so its less deadly but theres gonna be 5K dead a day no problem after Thanksgiving/Christmas/New Years (plus peak flu season) factor in.
So my 11 year old nephew went into the hospital today with what they think is multi system inflammatory syndrome. Covid rapid test came back negative and they are testing for antibodies but I know he had it if that is the diagnosis now. He never had symptoms and nobody we know has been positive lately. Any thoughts from any of the Drs about what to expect?
Ritzville is not central WA and I will not allow for these sorts of transgressions against my similarly-situated piece of shit region
The fact that people thought Twitter was rounding a corner because they "censored" some of Trump's posts while letting this guy continue to spout bullshit unchecked is sad.
East of cascades = close enough Looked up ritzville that’s the middle of nowhere. I’ve done some work out around there for GCPUD a few years ago. BFE.
a lockdown now with a vaccine so close makes so much sense now. Close things down for three weeks, crush the curve, send everyone checks to get by for a month, start rolling out the vaccine, start opening things back up as more and more people get vaccinated
Are there any more vaccine trials expected to announce results soon? A couple more coming online and pushing that January 1 vaccination number up from 35 million to 60-70 million would be awesome
https://www.raps.org/news-and-articles/news-articles/2020/3/covid-19-vaccine-tracker It looks like there are eight other vaccine candidates which are either in Phase 3 or beginning phase 3 trials. I know the Johnson and Johnson vaccine was talked about recently as they are confident a single dose will provide protection but decided to voluntarily test a second dose and its effects. https://www.fiercebiotech.com/biote...-tests-new-two-dose-regimen-for-covid-vaccine
The last couple of days I’ve read articles advocating not shutting down in-classroom schools because there is no evidence that the youngsters spread the virus. Since mid-summer when school sports started cranking up I’ve kept a daily record of the Utah cases in the 1-14 and 15-24 age groups. For the purposes of this post I won’t address the latter group because of the college cross-over. A couple of weeks after the schools opened the 1-14 cases doubled, from about 30/day to 70. A month later it was 100. Then, after it got cold in later October it jumped to 150. Right now it is 200. So, from the opening of the schools Utah has gone from 30/day to 200/day. Admittedly there are confounding factors and this is a simplistic analysis, but I just have to disagree with those who say kids do not spread the disease.
Of course they do. Morons say they don’t. the issue has always been whether we are willing to close bars and restaurants for our kids. The answer was simply, “no”.
Look what humans can accomplish, a vaccine in 8 months, and yet certain demand people starve and suffer for a couple extra bucks it makes me so sad
Anecdotally we have not seen any significant spread in my district and school has been open for 3+ months. The outbreak is also not that bad in my area which prob has something to do with that I guess
They need to be specific of where in Florida. Everyone around me is constantly masked. Maybe I just live in a different bubble.
My wife went to get tested this morning at 9am. She is still in line, but said there's only 30 cars left in front of her....8 months after this began it takes almost 3 hours to get a covid test?
took me 3 hours to get tested yesterday. had to go to two places because the first one only tested if you had direct exposure cool system
I have not been tested yet...could you just lie? Contact tracing is so sparse, feel like they can't really confirm or deny
yeah. i thought we were past the point of needing to lie to get tested so it didnt cross my mind at the first place. the second place didnt even ask but i was prepared to lie there
