Friday Syracuse @ Louisville (-18) Saturday Clemson (-32) @ FSU Wake Forest (-6) @ Duke Virginia Tech (-2) @ Pittsburgh Abilene Christian @ Virginia Liberty @ NC State (-2) Georgia Tech @ Miami (-20)
my understanding is: - lose out (Pitt most likely won't happen, Clemson then UVA then bowl all losses) and Fuente is essentially a dead man walking for 2021 season - some form of winning may get him extra time but still on extremely short leash barring huge success in 2021 - he's getting canned this year pretty good odds for change, I like it.
Coach speak is the worst. Just once, I'd like one to just say that they're playing a shitty team and losing would bring shame upon the university
At this point it might be a good move, but I wonder who he would bring to run the offense. He has never been more than a position coach anywhere.
the bigger point will not be hamstringing the next coach with half a staff. Fuente might have liked Foster just fine and he was still Bud Foster but coaches definitely need to have full say in their staffs. if coaches survive the transition because the next guy interviewed them and kept them that's different but Foster and his staff were essentially thrust upon Fuente and that didn't help things. just time to move on. was a good hire at the time but it didn't work out. maybe he can coach well but just not at a place where recruiting means you actually need to put in effort to land kids. also, given how cutthroat college football is in general I am amazed at how many good-to-great coaches let their assistants drag them down like an anchor. if Fuente fired Cornelson like a year or two ago who knows what could have happened later but much like Beamer he's entirely too loyal and it's going to cost him his job. I want to find that post I made where I said he was a fucking moron for not taking the Baylor job when he flirted so heavily with them this offseason. he probably cost himself 15-20 million.
93's record margin of victory in the series is probably going down Legit never thought it would be matched by either side......and its us on the ass end
Nah. It may be like 2 years ago, but probably not that bad even. Assuming we are up big around halftime, our 2nd string hasn't been doing much.
Dabo didnt seem to like Willie. Doesnt seem to have an issue with Norvell but last time out was an L. I doubt we try to GT yall though.
Im telling you thats why GT got a 73 spot dropped on em. Collins pissed Dabo off last year with the lifting weights on the sideline.
openly I don't think so but there was more than enough happening behind the scenes for it not to be anything but real. they had five guys come to Blacksburg for the in-person interview and Fuente was expected to sign until we ponied up some money for his demands (which were reasonable). think of it like Beamer and UNC, it was that close to happening. Baylor wanted him badly and they moved extremely fast on him. all understanding of the situation is if VT says "no" to his demands he was absolutely gone.
How do bowls work this year? If VT magically makes one, are we on the hook to buy 40% of the tickets?
Yeah, but his health meter usually runs out in the 2nd quarter. Then we have a true freshman and skill position players behind him. Gonna be great
Ok, bigger question: does VT lose $20 million by accepting a bowl game because we have to buy tickets to a game with a max capacity of 500 people?
God I hope those assholes can do it. Let's just think for a minute how bad UNC is to fall to this team
blocked punt leading to a td, pick 6, throw in our struggles against mobile qb's and an offense that sat on its hands for a half and baby you've got a stew going
Sir Phobos Bryce Watts has entered the transfer portal after sitting out last year then opting out this one
I completely forgot he was even here, seems like forever ago. can't remember why he transferred but given our depth issues there's little doubt he wouldn't have been starting so lol
Not even making fun of the Hokies or Pitt for this. This is just stupid. This whole season is stupid.
