we had to wait about a 7 months for 1 of the 4 pieces of Fisher to arrive for our kitchen remodel. Worth the wait imo.
we have been waiting since september. it was supposed to deliver today and we got an email yesterday saying it wouldn't be even manufactured until February.
Closed on Monday but having a lot of work done post-close. Built-ins have been going in this week, flooring today, plantation shutters going in early next week, tech guys going in Thursday as well as appliances. Saved a ton of money by paying cash for all of that outside of the builder but playing foreman for 2 weeks sucks bc all of these contractors are backed up.
considering that there is a global pandemic that has disrupted supply chains on a somewhat limited and semi-high end item, not a huge surprise. or maybe that is just my laid back attitude bleeding through.
I’m pretty laid back too...but if I had an appliance that was supposed to be delivered tomorrow and I got an email saying it hadn’t even been manufactured yet, I’d blow a gasket.
That more than likely has to do with the supplier/retail outlet than it does Fisher. Fisher can not help it if someone promised a product that could not be fulfilled.
Good news is, got a line on a full warehouse of hands so am not going to need to apologize for the load, or lack of, headed your way.
yep. apparently his "system" was showing one available in a warehouse in florida, sold it to us, told us it was on a truck, and waited til the last minute to email us to let us know it didn't actually exist. this is after we originally ordered one in september from Lowes, and they delayed the shipment a half dozen times over the course of two months before we went to this other retailer. it's been a mess. luckily we aren't in a huge hurry for it. but pretty bummed cause i was planning on stocking my beer fridge in the garage this weekend. now we are back to the drawing board.
With the way things are, and considering the odd size, you might be better off postponing until things are opened back up anyways. I am sure your options are very limited at this juncture.
Moved +/- 600 sq ft of flooring from garage to basement today, cleaned out the rest of the garage (including moving the jet skis to storage and having to change a tire on them first) for the cars this winter, and returned the neighbor’s ladder from painting. I’m exhausted.
Any HVAC-proficient guys in here? My a/c decided to kick the bucket on Friday night, which means that none of the companies we called could give us an estimate for an install until this morning when the warehouses are open. My usual a/c guy recommended that we upgrade to a 3-ton unit instead of the 2.5-ton. When I asked a second contractor about that recommendation, he said it was a bad idea because if you go up a half ton then you have to redo the duct work, or else the existing ducts get too cold and condensation builds up leading to drips and mold. That sounds feasible, but I figured someone on TMB probably knows the answer to this, too.
It cooled fine. I have two separate units for the upstairs and downstairs, and this is the upstairs one. We leave it at 78 during the day while we’re gone and turn it down at night, so it doesn’t take very long to cool. Even with the 2.5 ton, the new ones are 14 SEER which is a big upgrade over the current 10 SEER.
Did your guy give a reason to upsize? The second guy is right that you may cause issues, though I'm not sure his explanation was right. The risk you run is cooling the space too quickly before the air has been well circulated, and if the unit doesn't move the air through the coil it doesn't remove the humidity So you end up with a cool but damp space That humidity can show up as condensation on air vents etc
Makes sense. The first guy just said the upsize would be more efficient, but I don’t want to mess with something that worked fine before.
Kasa has a pack on Amazon for four of them for like $25 but I am not sure they are compatible with HomeKit if that’s important. They are Alexa and Google Home Compatible. I have them and use them with my SmartThings hub and they work great.
my mom gifted me a couple of Wemo plugs last year. Haven't used them yet but figured they will be perfect for Christmas lights.
500sqft per ton in northern CA. If the existing ac is Puron(R410a) going 2.5ton will be much cheaper since you’re not installing a new coil. If you need to replace the coil, upsizing to 3 ton should be investigated better. Furnace size? CFM? Duct size off coil? Your contractors should be able to get this info pretty easily.
South Florida here. The existing a/c still runs on the old Freon so it has to be changed out entirely. Probably looking at a little over 1000 square feet upstairs and I have high ceilings so sounds like 2.5 tons, plus moving to the larger coil, is the safer bet.
Not sure if this is the best thread for this but I trust I’ll get some direction. I’m considering an outside tv setup and was checking out these speakers. if I do things right I’ll basically upgrade my office TV and take it outside for entertainment. I wasn’t sure about the link below and it’s been forever since I bought a receiver. Any good suggestions there would be welcomed. . Especially when it sounds like the guy lied as long as possible trying to keep a sale he wouldn't have otherwise made.
I have the most annoying real estate agent ever selling our house and I really want to fire him but the house is basically sold already and we got a $2k bonus on our mortgage on new house for going with their referral. The guy will call and leave a voice mail, text he called us and then send an email. Dude I'm working and have a one month old ill get back to you when I can. I'll respond by email at work or while feeding baby and he'll always respond with a call. Take the hint emailing is easier for us. He also obviously thinks I'm a scammer or something and he always is oddly siding with the buyers. We had an issue getting a sewer scope. Buyers want us to install an access point because they couldn't do it from toilet. Our plummer said thats most likely BS and a scam to get us to pay for an access point and is going to attempt a sewer scope before giving us a quote on installing an access point. Sewer scopes are video recorded, but when we first told the agent the plan to try that first he said "well I think you're wasting money because they already tried it and couldn't do it, you should just install an access point". I said no we will try this before doing something that costs $3-4 k. He responded "well you need to get the video to me so I can give it to them, or else they'll just assume you paid off a plummer to give you a passing report". He has also reminded us twice since then we need to make sure to get a copy of the video... The only other thing that buyer required fixing was a broken window latch. We had our neighbor handyman fix it for like $20. We told him and his response was "I need a copy of the receipt showing that it was actually fixed"...I'm like dude, no I'm lying about fixing something that easy... Fuck this guy
He just wants to close the transaction and get the commission. The buyer is more likely to walk away than the seller and having you pay for things has no impact on his commission other than to make it more likely to happen. Hopefully that makes his conflict of interest clear.
He is just trying to close. Doesn’t mean he isn’t being annoying but I’m sure he has had deals fall through for less.
This guy sounds like a pain in the ass, but the receipt thing is pretty normal. I was asked to provide repair receipts for everything we did for our buyers. Just figured it was part of the deal.
Can we get a follow up on this, please? If you were being serious, I really need to know what happened.
Sod and trees went in at the new house today. 30 days til close. Pretty much everything is done aside from a few little interior finishes. Can’t wait.
My uncle got killed when his truck transmission slipped out of park and rolled, pinning him against the storage unit steel fence and/or end of the building. I was like 9 so the details are fuzzy.
True story I dont really know all the details, the less I know the easier it is to say "I don't know what happened"
I have to spend $3200 to install a cleanout to our sewer to sell the house so the buyer can do a sewer scope. Now the appraisal apparently told the buyer they need a hand rail installed on top of the stairs. Again my agent is like just do it, because they need it for their loan because its not traditional. This is after the buyer bitched about the access point saying it was "the only thing they were asking for". We had 3 over asking offers on the house that was on market less than 24 hours...I want to just say fuck it and pull out of this one, but I've already paid to install the access line. Going to ask my agent to see if the buyers will actually do anything, or im just going to drill some 2×4 into the wall and ground and call it a rail. I dont know what I'm paying this agent for, his response to everything is literally just pay for it.
what is your penalty to cancel the current offer DetroitNole? Is that offset by the offers in waiting?
