We have a lot of new restaurants opening, anything in particular you're looking for? Uptown is kind of a wasteland these days, but you can rail/Uber easily to some good spots in NoDa/SouthEnd/Plaza-Midwood. EpiCentre was a big retail complex but a bunch of bars just shutdown recently, probably one of the worst hit facilities by the pandemic ...
Nah I don't have anything in mind really. I'm gonna do some digging later this week. That seafood place that Upton^2 posted is pretty intriguing.
I like the Waterman a lot in SouthEnd too if you'd like a raw bar option, great roof top patio with excellent views. And yes grats on the secks
It’s very good and is walkable from where you’re staying. My favorite “nicer” place in uptown and their cocktails are really good. Also lots of solid bars next to it to get a drink before or after dinner
Kimpton rooftop if the weather is nice. Grand Bohemian bar is swank too. Both under 3 blocks from Fin and Fino.
New rooftop bar at GrandBo was cool as well. Also Petty Thieves Brewing has finally opened in North End near the Music Factory. They've been highly anticipated for the last few years but lease agreements kept falling through ...
Was there with my wife and another couple. Collectively we had six drinks and the total bill all in was something like $140. It was insane. I’ve only been back on occasions when a corporate tab is picking it up.
I am amused thinking about if some cig-smoking Carolinian who just visited NASCAR hall of fame stumbled in there
Anyone know anything about a place called Fahrenheit? It's apparently like a five-minute walk from where we are staying.
I’ve eaten there a couple times. Food is fine but you’re going for the view/setup. Make sure you get the ahi nachos if you go tho
Yeah I'm looking for good food and solid vibes or whatever. I love seafood but we've scratched Fin & Fino since she's not all that into it. I've still got a month to figure it out.
Family and I moved out to Indian land in august. I’ve been in Charlotte since 2009 and she’s a third generation Charlottean. It feels weird driving into the city now... like another world even though our house is only 11 miles south of where we were near South Park. that said, I love Indian Land.
Thank me later and get the Uber to Barcelona (tapas) or Superica (Mexican) in South End or Noble Smoke (BBQ) in Freemore West. These will serve you well. Downtown dining has died this year.
So several places are only doing carry-out and a few aren’t even open on Mondays. Ended up making reservations at a place called Dressler’s. I’m sure it’ll be fine.
I’ve only been there because of a work Christmas dinner and then I had a gift certificate another time. It is adequate, but certainly overpriced for what it is. Not trying to be Debbie downer. You’re dead set on staying in the downtown area for dinner?
Not really. Can always Uber somewhere. I basically googled best restaurants in Charlotte and checked out some of them to see what kind of food they had. Several were temporarily closed, some are only doing carryout, and others aren't open on Monday--which is the day we'll be there.
Is Goodyear House open? Thought that was a pretty cool spot. Definitely a bit more interesting than Dresslers, which is a pretty good dinner.
I’d recommend checking out Good Food on Montford, if you don’t mind a 10 minute Uber ride. http://www.goodfoodonmontford.com/ If that doesn’t do it for you, there’s a great Italian place called Stagioni owned by the same restaurant group that I really like. http://www.stagioniclt.com/ If your feeling really frisky, I’d go to The Fig Tree. It’s expensive, but it is worth it imo. http://charlottefigtree.com/
ended up hitting up the great TLC instead now i want one of those two for dinner but i am an hour away
Not sure if you heard, but the 10pm "curfew" starts on Friday. If you're still here for the weekend, go out early. Alcohol service stops at 9pm.
Larry’s Buns under the “Land” portion of the menu. Also, you should get desert regardless, but if they have this banana pudding ice cream sandwich between warm sugar cookies, with mini malt balls, you have no choice but to order that.
it isnt fancy, but i really like the brazwells buffalo chicken sandwich. try to stop whenever i am in town. good place to watch a game
Brazwells has very solid bar food. Was a regular spot when I lived over in that area. The Buffalo chicken and the California chicken sandwich are great.
they used to do wednesday sports trivia with mac and the rest of the 610 morning crew. would go with some buddies and get concert tickets and have some drinks and food. was always a good time mac liked us and gave us like 4 free tickets to a stevie wonder show.
Thanks again for the tips. Unfortunately wasn’t able to go to that Good Food place due to time constraints, so we ended up eating at Tupelo Honey uptown. Nothing fancy but I actually liked the food and they had some good drinks. I also got engaged. So that was neat.
