Fired up Netflix, Queen's Gambit trailer started playing, thought it looked interesting so decided to give it a go, realized it wasn't a movie and questioned whether I wanted to put the time in for a series, paused, came in here, perused last couple of pages for any talk on said series, starting it back up
Aunty Donna deserves some love. Absurdist sketch comedy from 3 Aussies produced by Ed Helms and Scott Aukerman
Phil from Somebody Needs to Feed Phil is living everyone’s dream life just goes around and eats doesnt have to go in the kitchen and learn shit like Guy Fieri and co he just opens his mouth and eats everything
dude looks annoying at first but he seems like a really good guy and I enjoy watching this show. It’s light and fun
Kids wanted to watch a Christmas movie and they picked Klaus. I cried like a baby at the end. A movie hasn’t brought out real tears in a long time.
don't forget that until this turn he was merely a successful tv comedy writer just a miserable existence all around really
I just realized Halt and Catch Fire (AMC) is on Netflix. If you haven't watched it I would highly recommend. Great TV show that went largely unnoticed.
I started it like 3 years ago and came back to it earlier in the week to finish S1 and get into S2. I love tech shows, but for some reason this one just doesn’t do it for me. Things I do love about the show are the characters and episodic formula. It is refreshing to see issues and large problems be resolved prior to the last episode or two. Maybe because tech related shows for the most part or ones that I have seen have been comedies that I’ve been able to dismiss some of the decision making and character paths. In HACF, some of the decision making seems counter intuitive to people who are for lack of a better word, brilliant.
I enjoyed it from the start but it definitely gets better as the seasons go if that's stopping you. The main characters really grow through the seasons.
jplaYa I'd like to second this, did a binge rewatch recently and it really stood out how much the development of the characters and especially the final season had left an exaggerated love of the show as a whole, that's not to say I didn't enjoy the earlier episodes, but it gets much much better, becomes a beautifully moving arc
I think the thing I liked most about Queens Gambit is you don’t need to know dick about chess to understand it. My one concern was that my BFF was going to ask me to situationally explain everything related to the matches. I didn’t get one question.
I've since watched Pawn Sacrifice and Searching for Bobby Fischer. You can also watch the actual chess of her matches via this YouTube channel. It's fun, ashamed to admit that I've watched more than a couple of these vids. https://www.youtube.com/c/AGADMATOR Not a channel I watch, but this is also good...
