The Force Awakens is the best trailer ever, but the first IW trailer indeed up there. The way the Avengers theme plays in the beginning during the Marvel title card was so ominous, setting the stage for Thanos.
This trailer is still my favorite. It was almost too good and gave up one of the greatest moments in MCU history 6 months before the film came out. This is the other I think of. Just came out of nowhere during the Super Bowl that year, I think and everyone's reaction was "holy fuck, I don't know who those people are but that looks insane."
I've watched some of the trailers from Phase 1 on Disney+ before watching those movies. Some of them are awful. I think the first Thor trailer was 75% filled with stuff that wasn't even in the movie.
I’m sure I said it when the God Butcher stuff first came up, but I’ll say it again. If you have any interest in comics, buy the God of Thunder collected editions with that storyline. It’s SO GOOD. Art is absolutely gorgeous. Bale in that role is insane. Holy shit.
https://marvel.fandom.com/wiki/Gorr_(God_Butcher)_(Earth-616) He could be one of the best villains in the history of the MCU so far. Easily.
I’m a trickster...so mischievous Sorry about that time I turned you into a frog Ragnarok is probably my MCU #1
And you don’t have a phone You Could’ve sent an electronic letter...it’s called an e-mail Yeah do you you have a computer No, what for? so good
That exchange reminded me of the Team Thor vid that came out pre-Ragnarok. "I don't a phone. Send a raven."
I loved the Hulk fake out from the IW trailer. I was for sure Banner was going to Hulk out and bust out of the hulk buster armor to beat up the Cull.
Watching Iron Man 3 since the Binge Mode podcast just came out. It sucks even more when you consider the wasted potential of an Ultron setup and the Extremis storyline. Too bad because the PTSD storyline and action sequences were decent.
When the Extremis people walked through the flames and their clothes didn’t burn at all . Watched it with the Mrs and SnL, they got pissed that i let out an audible “are you f’n serious!?” As I’ve said multiple times. Keep the original schedule. Ant-Man then IM3 then Ultron. Background story of the overall ‘heist movie’ is Hank and his Ultron project, all of IM3 is Hank coming to Tony for his robotics help, they develop and create the perfect machine. By the end of IM3, Ultron becomes sentient and destroys Tony and Hank (wattt, good guy doesn’t win?!?!). Then AoU can focus on his evolution, the twins, a proper creation and evolution of Vision. Just a post phase 1 screw up, probably the only one.
Did the same after Mallory and Jason kind of talked me into it. They made it sound not so bad, and they gave probably the best argument for the Mandarin twist not being so bad that I have heard. But the movie is just awful. There's no redeeming it. For a while I thought "if you take it out of the MCU and just think of it as a standalone it's not so bad," but it is that bad. The plot is dumb. Extremis is dumb. The ending is absolutely awful and makes no storyline sense. And I have no clue how or why an extremis person lives or dies in any of the action sequences. And that's just thinking of it in terms of outside the MCU. Put it back in (which you have to), and it's so much worse because of the things that just straight up got ignored moving forward and the opportunities the movie didn't do that hurt future films.
In my mind, it's an old man Tony storyline. He lives through Endgame, and proper retires after exploding all of his suits and ditching the chest reactor. It still sucks.
That movie feels like an old man RDJ storyline than an old man Tony storyline. It's like when Thor got his haircut in Ragnarok because Hemsworth hated wearing the wig. IM3 seems like RDJ saying "I don't like wearing any IM suit and that chest thing is dumb so let's just throw it out."
This is what it must feel like for Republicans when the MSM pretends the fraud didn't happen and Joe Biden isn't stealing the election from OUR President.
Also, low on the list of complaints but I hated how the suits would just break apart like they were made out of LEGO’s.
So much of the movie just makes no sense. Pretty sure everyone knew where Tony lived. The idea that he gave out his address and now they know where to find him was dumb. Tony's got the most advanced weapons in the world and is beyond paranoid of threats to himself and Pepper at this time, but he's got nothing for "what if someone just flies up to my house in a chopper and shoots at it?" He has all these suits he can just walk into, but the one suit he uses in the movies is the one that isn't weaponized yet? And the ending where he just, out of nowhere, is like "I almost died in IM2 because of thing in my chest I needed to stay alive, but now I'm just going to walk into surgery and have them remove the shrapnel like it's nothing." What the hell?
I did such a good job of wiping that piece of shit out of my memory that when Cap slammed the shield into the Arc reactor in CW I was for sure he killed Tony.
Thor 2 and IM3 are important pieces to the setup of what was to come Movies weren’t great, so I’m not defending them but they were important.
IM2 introduces Black Widow and War Machine, tells more of the SHIELD back story, and gives a look at Fury's reach. I'll buy that one. IM3 sets up nothing other than gives a look into Tony's paranoia post-Avengers, but even that isn't really set up by IM3 considering he blows up all his suits at the end of IM3 and it looks like he's basically leaving the game at that point. AoU pretty much just pretends that didn't happen.
