I have also tried to find Dino ribs with no luck. Haven’t seen them at Costco and the butchers I call all say of course we have them and I show up and it’s the short cut or back ribs. I am so sick of living under this dictatorship that we call Michigan.
Not sure how many pellet grillers we have in here, but thought I would share that Lowes has their Webber pellets on sale at the moment. Where Eagles Dare
So, I had a weird thing happen yesterday with a 17# brisket that's never happened to me. Flat got hot way faster than point. Point was up to about 185, and flat was already 200. I got the point to 195, and wrapped. I used a Akorn, temp about 275-300 (because of time constraints), nothing else weird. Ambient temp was like 50-60 degrees (Alabama). Ideas?
All I can find is a frozen turkey breast with the rib cage and breastplate attached. Do y’all remove those before cooking or after?
Why you guys all probe a brisket in multiple places i will never understand Probe in the thickest part of the meat and let it fucking ride man Yall are making this too complicated
10 pounds of beef jerky in bags seasoning, will smoke and dehydrate this weekend 4 bone dino rib plate in the fridge waiting for decision if I'm gunna cook it tomorrow or Sunday, pork baby back rack defrosting too Depends on the Christmas decoration situation tomorrow I see User devine once again went from promising a cook to a pork butt So once again a standard weekend on tmb
10.5 lb butt is on, Dino ribs going on in the morning. Couldn’t find any post oak chunks in town is my only real problem, guess it’s hickory for the ribs tomorrow. Butt is on some apple smoke right now
Whats the go to 4 probe wireless thermometer these days? My maverick xr50 has one port going bad and after asking all kinds of questions, maverick customer service just sent me a link to their website where I could buy a new one
I have an InkBird IBBQ 4T that’s been great for me. Got it for like $85 6-8 months ago and still good. Think it’s Chinese so no faith in their Customer support if that’s a consideration for you. edit: it’s truly WiFi compatible as well, which was a must for me. It does not require another device to be connected via Bluetooth.
So does it wifi directly to your phone or does it go through the home wifi? I need to be able to use it at competitions where wifi isn't a thing
You’d want Bluetooth then. However this does have a display right on the unit where the probes plug into. Not sure if you’d be alright checking the unit itself or if you’d prefer and app.
I've actually never had one with an app, always had a remote receiver (two 733's before my current xr50) which is nice because of the range and no need for wifi I will probably never go for a Bluetooth one because Bluetooth cuts out at about 10 ft
Might end up wrapping the butt, still sitting around 187 and want to make sure I can rest for 2 hrs. We’ll see.
Stopped by the recteq warehouse today while running some errands. 700 seems like the only one I would want. Couldn’t pull the trigger at $1200 though. They are doing another scratch and dent sale in feb so I’ll swing by then.
Wrapping for the rest. Ended up wrapping the butt and it’s inching towards 202. I love how moist it is when you wrap but not all the fat renders as well. It’s a give and take.
