drinking some deliciousness from the infinity decanter with a splash of Luxardo Maraschino liqueur, while smoking a pork butt
looked up infinity decanter then started reading about this. Brilliant. You pour your last little bit of a bottle into the decanter to clear space and over time you mix different bourbons into the decanter. Right?
Yep, one of the big distributors just got rights to it. I’m hopefully that some local store will get a pick
For all of us that we’re considering buying a barrel this year, get off your ass and make it happen: https://www.thespiritsbusiness.com/2020/11/whisky-made-in-2020-most-valuable-in-history/
are we trying to get a TMB barrel? In. I do think that Detlef Schrempf should be in the group picking.
At $8,000 to $10,000 for a barrel , I wonder if the ROI is better than just being in an index fund. I mean it's obviously cooler.
my buddy in Texas found some Weller FP on the cheap and is gonna send me one. What’s best way to package it for shipping with UPS?
What do I want? 35 Elijah Craig DPS Pick 70 Elijah Craig Toasted Barrel 75 Elijah Craig Barrel Proof 30 Weller Reserve 55 Larceny Barrel Proof 65 Willett Rye 95 Angels Envy Rye 55 Pikesville Rye 75 Nikka Coffey Malt
LOL prime is the probably the smallest distributor in the state that does spirits. They have a very small footprint and not many employees. We traded Breckenridge to them at the end of last year and they’re probably in 10% of the accounts that we had them in and in those accounts they probably have a quarter of the SKUs we had in those accounts. If you’re familiar with Pinhook, they opted for Prime earlier this year. If you know the brand you’ve probably seen it in bug accounts but that’s about it. Basically what I’m saying is once they start selling Smoke Wagon you’ll be able to find it here and there but they’ll shit the bed on distributing it across the market. The brand will never really seen any growth in the market after the launch.
Earlier this year we bought the right to WhistlePig after they refused to send Prime any more product and had refused to launch Piggyback in the state to force a trade. Since March we’ve done more in distribution, sales, etc than Prime did in probably the last three years with the brand combined. I judge people and businesses on the little things too. Prime still has WhistlePig listed on their website and they haven’t had them in like 9 months. One that’s either very lazy and or just them oblivious to their overall business look. It’s kind of low key fraud too.
Cracking my MWND early because a good buddy from work is leaving for Charleston. Was supposed to hold it for Thanksgiving but my sister in law got the coco so we probably aren't celebrating with that side of the family. For my GA bros, I heard Pappy is getting delivered on Monday in Augusta. PM me and I'll tell you the store, no idea on pricing or allotment. EDIT: count me + 3 others in if we do a TMB barrel
Anyone tried knob creek cask strength rye 2010? Belle Meade XO cognac casks? Rare breed rye barrel proof?
Is buying a barrel realistic? theregionsitter Earn_Marks @ anyone else who may know these things There wouldn’t be a shortage of funds, that’s for sure. I just don’t know how logistics and availability work. I do think it would be a lot of fun if we had the chance.
Are you wanting to buy a physical used barrel or are you looking to select and purchase a full single barrel of bottles whiskey?
I think I could get us a barrel through Watershed in Columbus, they age their bourbon in one of my clients warehouses. Their bourbon is really young still though, think their oldest barrels are 6 years
The latter. We’ve been joking about it for a few months, but there’s definitely the funding and discerning pallets available for it.
It’s perfect for me though because our city’s best store, and the one I’m in best with, is super close with the prime rep. I believe the owner is actually the rep for that store? Either way, anything they get winds up flush at that store. On that note, who reps Michters in GA? That store always gets a good selection of their super high end stuff as well
If anyone is a fan of High West an account told me the other day they apparently they’re discontinuing Campfire and at least one other SKU very soon.
Fuck that if you want to do that I’ll set it up in Atlanta. I’d be a fucking Golden god if I sold a barrel of watershed bourbon. The liquid is great, just a tough sell in to an account here. They just put out a 6 year bourbon the finished in their brandy barrels and bottled at strength and that shit is AWESOME!
I can definitely set up a tasting and get pricing and all of that. We’d have to do it through a store. It would have to be shipped to us, then the store paid for and picked up. Much easier than it sounds. Depends on the barrel/distillery for turn around time. Off the top of my head single barrels I can help with would be WhistlePig (10, 12 year bespoke, 12 Year specialty finishes ie Cognac, Jamaican Rum, dessert wines), Watershed Bourbon, ASW Georgia Heartwood Bourbon and others possible, Old 4th Bottle in Bond Bourbon, Hillrock, and FEW. I don’t know as much about them but also Woodford.
I like campfire but it doesn’t taste like bourbon. Its a blend of multiple whiskeys. It’s more of an Isley scotch to me in terms of its profile, which I am a big fan of.
That was the other one. I think what they have is what they have on both of those. There won’t be anymore Is The Bottle Shop your go to there? I guess Pinhook, Penelope, and a few other new brands are making it there. I did a quick search of Athens biggest stores and o don’t see any of them there. Columbus is bigger than Athens though.
Yep, TBS is the spot. They’ve got about 6 different labels of Pinhook out right now and 3 expressions of Penelope. What’s insane is how many new premium price point bottles they have on shelf right now. It feels like there are at least a dozen different $120+, 10+ year bottles on their shelves that didn’t even exist a year ago.
im drinking the 2010 kc rye right now. I like it a lot, it kinda surprises me because I imagine it’s a barely legal mashbill but I get a lot more mint than I usually do in those ryes.
Yeah it looks, based off their instagram, like they do a great job. I think that's all of the SKUs they have in the state.
